Great pants
05-23-08 ![]() |
These aren't the best "khakis" you'll ever find, but they are about the best you'd ever find in a department store setting--which is about where the pricing puts it. It is doubtful that these could ever double for dress pants--the pattern/stitching isn't conservative enough (logo is stitched on side), and sections are obviously designed for outdoors activities. What these are--are rugged pants for just about any outdoor occasion. The back pocket zippers are top notch, and the waistline liner is classic Arc'teryx (love the waist button too). The waist/inseam measurements (for me) were spot on. The stitching is impressive, and the material is rugged/comfortable. Overall, these are perfectly priced pants--and it's oh so hard to find attractive khakis that AREN'T dress-only. I own two of these. I disagree about these being "heavy". They're not too thick, and the material is about as heavy as your average pair of dockers--and not so much as jeans pants. The material here is much more rugged/durable than your average dockers |

Functional and beautiful
05-22-08 ![]() |
One of the most amazing jackets you'll ever own. Outdoor people who see me with this offer a kindly comment. I've owned mine for at least 5 years now, and it still does it's job... though diminished. These things don't last forever unfortunately. You'll mostly begin to notice fraying and looseness around the 380N areas, and then the 480N sections will begin to soak in water at points. I wouldn't recommend ever putting this in the wash/dry cycles, even if they say you can. Even if it can't withstand waterfalls anymore, I'll still be getting good use out of this for years to come! My only real complaint is the zip-in hood area... It's nice that you can tuck it into the collar, but it's thick and stiff as a board in that state. The best compromise is keeping it unfolded with the zippers half-closed. If they could improve the longevity a bit, it would be the best garment I've ever worn. |

Looks make a difference
05-22-08 ![]() |
I'm really not a fan of the epsilon lineup--but this still looks better than the AR version. I'm a big fan of performance, but not at the cost of aesthetics. Everyone says how wonderful this jacket performs, but I couldn't get past the looks of the jacket. The inner lining looks and feels great, but the outer shell is a bit painful to look at and feel--and a bit difficult to describe. Sadly, it's more form-fitting than I'd like (it does match your contours well, including the back which is longer). If you go with a regular sizing (especially a size smaller), don't expect to be able to layer properly beyond a t-shirt. If you've got wider (built, rather than toned) arms, you're going to have some trouble with these, as there's little stretch range. The performance may be remarkable, but I need my jackets to double for social uses. |

Mediocre looks; Great performance
05-22-08 ![]() |
The price I got this at was a steal, so I gave it a try. I can confirm that it's moderately water-resistant, but it really shines in terms of warmth and comfort (inside). The outside has a durable feel, but not necessarily a pleasant texture. It also looks like something cheap you'd find in a department store, but WOW is it warm. If you're out in the cold, hit is likely the only layer you'd need. Unlike most hood offerings, this one actually rests well without impairing vision--and the lining does a darn good job of insulating your noggin in every location. The pockets have the same pleasant inner-lining. This jacket is long and rides down a ways--but not to your knees. The sleeves are short/regular. |

I really like these
05-22-08 ![]() |
I got two pair, and boy do they perform well. The reef leather smoothy I have is lighter, but it doesn't perform so well walking down the road. These Fannings are really designed to handle well in the sand, water, and concrete. I use these in a casual setting all summer long, and they provide the support I need. I've yet to feel poorly in these after a rough day on the beach, but be careful walking to much in the surf with these... you can develop chafing along the straps |

wow

These things are amazing. One of the best clothing purchases I've ever made. These shoes are super functional. If you loosen the back straps, you can push the back down and make it function like real sandals... but it may damage the back end after a while--it happened to me. They dry extremely fast, and they feel good in the water. If you tighten all of the straps, they compact down to about half-size, which is perfect for travel packing. I'd buy these again, and I recommend them to friends |

Great stuff
05-22-08 ![]() |
I managed to get a few of these cheap, and I'm not disappointed. They feel great, and they're not overly tight (based on the recommended sizing chart). I wore a pair for about a week, and they smell great! I was worried that a shorter sock like this would be problematic, but I prefer these to normal socks for casual use now. |

For the money, great slope pants
05-22-08 ![]() |
In my case--I had to go with a lower size than I'd expect (30 waist is Small for this). These are great pants--they are a little baggy and thick (several layers inside), and they will make a swishing noise if you attempt to wear casually. I recommend you check the pocket liner--one side of mine was completely unstitched, so I'll have to return mine... darn shame. The Recco addition was a nice touch for low-end pricing. |

Good for the price
06-04-08 ![]() |
These are some heavy and sturdy shorts. They almost feel like cardboard at times. These aren't your standard khakis, even if they look like them. They're not uncomfortable, but I think the legs are a bit too-baggy. The length isn't a problem, but a bit shorter would have been nice to cut down on kneecap chaffing. The front and back pockets are indeed generous. I just think the cell pocket is a bit small and doesn't go deep enough. Good luck getting an iphone in there! |

Sizing is out of hand
06-09-08 ![]() |
Oakley needs to learn to conform to their OWN sizing standards. Most Oakley goods fit as they should, but as a previous poster stated, these shorts are too large. I'm a size 30 waist, and the small fits like a 32. I'm continually tugging up on these things as I'm riding--which isn't always safe. They're decent for mountain-biking, but I can't really comment on the ventilation they added. It doesn't get in the way, but who puts vents at the waistline? When I'm biking, my shirts always go down past that point--mainly to compensate for the sagging pants >.> Otherwise, good shorts. I ordered ballistic 3.7 MTB shorts hoping they'd fit better (fingers crossed). |

Not the best or most detailed shirts you'll ever find, but it's worth the money... barely. Unlike most Arc'teryx goods, there's no embroidery here--just good'ol printing which will eventually crack and fall off. The material feels good, but if you're looking for technical gear, you're out of luck. Zero moisture wicking on this shirt. Definitely slim-fitting, but still true to size. I think Arc'teryx would do well to target the low $20 price range instead. |

Probably worth the money
06-06-08 ![]() |
I like this bag--it's not too big, and it fits a lot. I especially like the fold-in bottle pouch. When it comes to heavy duty though--I really don't think it fits the bill. Sure, there's some good padding, but what it needs is a hard outer membrane to help nullify any hard hits. As it is, it's just a padded bag. Depending on which way you align your laptop, you may be provided significantly more protection for your screen... Be VERY careful which direction you put it in. Still, it beats out those no-name $40-$60 laptop bags you'll find in any department store hands down. |

Size-up!
05-28-08 ![]() |
Oakley does an amazing job of making clothing that doesn't match standard clothing sizes. Be VERY careful with them. I bought Oakley Ballistics (S) which was equal to a size (L-34). While these shorts ARE true to size, you will find them extremely difficult to put on--there is little to no stretch along the waistline. I recommend buying one size larger for this product. Otherwise, it is well worth the price. Beware--only one pocket! |

Great product... for a while anyhow
05-22-08 ![]() |
I have the men's version--and it's probably my favorite "sweater". Wonderful with odors, and has great moisture wicking, but after a few washes the aesthetic quality degrades a little bit... It gets fuzzy/frizzy, which is noticeable from a foot away. After 3-4 washes a hole developed on the back, which is extremely disappointing. All in all, I'd buy another if I could. |

Excellent shorts
05-22-08 ![]() |
I like these a lot. For shorts without side pockets, I didn't expect they'd be good. I've bought a lot of department store shorts in my day, and these trump them all. The texture is a bit strange, but it feels comfortable, and its flexible. Some people claimed that you should size down, because they're oversized... but take my advise--STAY with your regular sizing for these. Get one size down, and you'll end up showing anything that's available to show--even if it is a comfortable fit (again, stretch material that conforms if necessary +added movement). These are definitely built for surfing, but I think i'll get plenty of enjoyment wearing them casually. |

Wow, these are nice
05-22-08 ![]() |
The material compares nicely to my alpha sl, but it's much thicker and layered nicely. It's the same high-quality (zippering especially), and the bib/buckle section feels great. The reinforcements are perfectly placed, and I can tell I'll have good times on the slopes with these. It's so much better than the department-store type winter gear I've picked up in the past. Just look at the inner seam-taping and you'll be amazed. The gusseting is well done. This kind of quality is well worth the price. You may find this at a discount as they're moving to the newer paclite material for 2009 |

Sorry, but yuck...
05-22-08 ![]() |
I had high hopes, but seeing this in person was a turnoff. The outer material texture was a turnoff (hard to describe it). It wears a bit small, and it conforms like a bodyfit item. If anything, this jacket seems more like an insulating or base-layer. I can't see myself ever wearing it in a social setting. Sometimes the aesthetics make a big difference... It just wasn't for me. Get a good look at yourself in the mirror before ripping the tags off--not everything that rolls out of the china arc'teryx assembly line is a winner. I'd go with a Beta or Alpha model any day... |

05-22-08 ![]() |
I'm not a fan of boxers--briefs provide the comfort and control needed. I gave the Oakley boxers a try... and wow. I bought an extra 2 pair, because they're just that amazing. The feel of these just make briefs feel archaic by comparison. I'm actually considering getting more. I think they're actually worth the price. Just note that I recommend you get one size smaller... Oakley products tend to fit larger than normal |

Hey, what do you expect for this price? It's cheap. It looks and feels like a department store offering. Actually, it's body-fit, so it doesn't look bad when worn. The detail is where it falls apart. Again, these wear a bit tight, so get a size larger if possible |

My new favorite outdoor pants
05-22-08 ![]() |
If you want lite pants... these are king. So thin, yet so durable. The quality is top notch. When you see them you might wonder how something so light and un-layered could be so expensive... but this is some quality equipment. It's contoured where it should be, and it's comfortable. Don't expect warmth in these, but layering underneath is a possibility. The drawstrings go straight to the bottom for added customization. The seam tape inside just looks amazing. |

I've got two--they're very wearable casually, and fairly warm. They wash well without obvious frizzing. I haven't worn them actively outside, but they certainly don't restrict movement like most of my other sweaters. I'm just not sure they're worth $72 each though. Silly MSRP |

05-22-08 ![]() |
It's big.. really big. If you're into skiing, snowball fights, etc., then this is the jacket for you. But for anything else, it feels too big and baggy. The inner jacket doesn't look or feel great, which hurts the case that it's for all year use. The outer jacket is a bit more manageable on it's own, but I don't plan on playing in waterfalls in the summer. Returned |

05-22-08 ![]() |
I made the mistake of purchasing this for something other than insulation use. I figured it could be used on it's own, but it's much too tight and designed primarily as a base-layer. I just don't like the zip-up neck, which can be problematic for larger necks. It's flimsy, and does not fold down as a collar (as pictured) for everyday use. |

These shirts perform great, both as base-layers and casual shirts. No need to fear moisture with this on. I went with black/blue and they look great. I wear them ALL the time... but beware anything which can pull the threads. They're fairly thin, and prone to damage depending on your activities. |

05-22-08 ![]() |
As mentioned, the texture of this material is very unique, but it doesn't feel bad. It's not stretchy, and it's not very thick. No inner lining, so what you see is what you get. It's not really that warm, but it is a nice lining. The sizing runs a bit large. The wrist sections have holes for your thumbs, which is a nice feature. This is a nice product, but I'm not sure it's worthy of a $120 price tag... |

I have the Men's version, and this jacket is amazing--the pictures don't do it justice. Wear the collar down, and it'll fit any any occasion off-slope. Top-notch quality, and perfect sizing for this product. I haven't tested this with layering as of yet, but it does feel good on it's own. I wouldn't wear this on it's own casually, as it does fit tight, and looks rather strange. The sleeves are a bit long, and I'm not a fan of the zip-neck (too tight for people with thicker necks). Overall, this is of better quality than a similarly advertised underarmor product. I'll be using this in the winter. |

Ehh,,
05-22-08 ![]() |
This is a decent product. I got this last year when they were in two-tone colors (blue/white and red/white). The stitching is out he outside to presumably reduce chaffing--but I've never had a problem with any other shirt before, so I'm not sure how important that is. It wicks moisture well enough, and I use them for physical activities, but they don't look good enough to wear casually in social settings. They look like cheap department store shirts, but they're good enough to double as cycling jerseys. |

The ballistic shorts are my favorite to wear, both on the trail and in casual fashion. The cushioning is great. The only complaint I have about this product is the sizing--and I don't seem to be alone. If possibly, buy a size smaller... depending on the situation, they always seem like they're riding down, and there's no belt system for adjustment. I always fear that the flimsy spandex cord inside will eventually fray and leave me with shorts that just won't fit... I don't go biking without these things |

It's about time they combined two great functionalities like this, but it definitely seems dangerous--especially on the slopes. Anyhow, the headset works great, and the mail-in adapter is top quality. Like the newer Audex helmet, this comes with Motorola headphones, so this may be the better choice. Sadly, the helmet seems too tight without enough ventilation... so I've yet to ride with it. |

Warning: these pants are too tight (at your regular waistline sizing) to be considered "regular fit". While I still like them, they are difficult to fit into for certain activities--absolutely forget about layering underneath. Get a size or two larger if at all possible. Considering that most (if not all) of Arc'teryx's products are now made in China, I consider the quality of these pants quite high. Despite how tight they are on me, they STILL allow superior movement, and the quality is still top notch. I just wish they would standardize sizings within their OWN lines... The palisade shorts have the same sizings as the pant. |

A casual shirt that feels like a million bucks. The size you get should be determined by how much you like "form-fitting" clothing. Aim for a larger size if you want a respectably looser fit. If you buy the size you normally get, you'll have something that accents what you do or do not want to show--either way, it'll feel great. The bamboo/cotton hybrid has an unusual but pleasant feel to it. As far as moisture wicking goes, I'm not sure this shirt is superior to a typical cotton shirt though... |

To be honest, I expected more when I purchased mine. No matter how many times I've attempted to replace it with a more expensive jacket, I've always come back to the Headwall for my casual and everyday needs. It looks good in a casual setting, and you could pull off a conservative look (thanks to the collar). It's not the warmest jacket in the world, but it sure feels good--sturdy, but not so much that it obstructs movement--sturdy for a softshell. It's protected me well on windy days, and it's definitely water resistant--it'll reflect a lite drizzle (haven't tested further). It doesn't appear to pick up odors, and the outer material is tough to dirty/damage. I'm going to be selling off 3-4 of my seldom used jackets on ebay, but this one I'll be holding on to for years. |
