I have had the Retros for about a month or 2 and like them a lot. So far they seem to be holding up better than the old Guide Tennis. I do everything in them. I don't suggest long hikes or anything where you will be on your feet all day. Size was close to my "street" size, maybe a "little" more snug. Now that they have broke-in and stretched they feel great. (I wear an 8.5 men's with my left foot being a little bigger.) My Bro had a pair and didn't like them. I think I knew what to expect since i had the Guides before. I would get the Retros again.

I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for", and these shorts are worth it. I was surprised at how well they rappel water, a pretty rugged short, and they are very comfortable. I generally like my shorts a bit loose so I got them a little bigger than what I "should" wear, and they are perfect, even under a harness. I don't mind so much about the price... With a company like Patagonia, you know that you're paying for more than just a name (quality, customer care, environmentally friendly, etc). I guess my only real complaint is that they don't have more pockets, but that might be a good thing.
