Go a size up

Originally ordered a md since a 34 is usually my max on waist. The mediums were tight, embarassingly tight. Seriously, since when is Canada in Europe? I returned for a sz L & am happy. Material construction is excellent - stretches, breaths, and appears to be pretty durable for the weight. Pockets have magnet closure. No pockets other than the 2 cargos. If you're carrying any extra junk in your trunk you might have to go 2 sizes up in order to avoid advertising your peaks and valleys - velcro adjustment on waist functions well. |

still the best?

I've been riding mali's for ~6 years, approx 60-100x/yr. I think i'm on my 4th or 5th pair right now, which says a lot right there. Would have given these boots 5 stars up until the last pair. Durability of lacing has always been an issue with the mali's but laces are usually pretty easy to fix. With my last pair (probably 2007's), however, the tongue started slipping to the side after a couple runs. I'm guessing the tongue is just not as wide as it used to be. (C'mon salomon, snowboarding builds monster calves!) Another reviewer here notes the same experience. This is more than just a little annoying since it effectively loosens the fit, diminishing control & energy transfer. It's bout time for new boots but I'll need to check & see if they've fixed this design flaw before purchasing again. You can get a feel for whether this is going to be an issue by putting them on & mimicing hard toe side turns, flex them as much as you can & drive your shins down. If the tongue shifts to the side in the store, you can bet it will be an issue on the slopes. |
