I bought this hat in preparation for a trip to the Ecuador rainforest and the Galapapos Islands. I spent extra for the hat since I wanted a good one for the trip. It turned out to meet my needs fine in blocking the sun, but there were a few problems that I found disappointing on such an expensive hat: 1) The metal snaps on the hat are apparently not made of brass so they began to rust after they got wet - a disappointment. 2) The inside front band of the hat contains cooling beads that swell when they get wet. Although the cooling effect was nice, the swelling made the hat fit too tight on my head. So if you plan on getting the headband wet, you may want to order a size larger to accomodate the swelling. 3) The elastic chin band began to come loose from the inside headband on both sides shortly after I began wearing it. It never actually detatched from the hat, but is only being held by a thread or two. 4) Also, the little leather adjuster on it doesn't stay up, so it really can't be tightened to the chin. Maybe my hat was a lemon, but the quality was not what I expected.
