This is the second lightweight Arc'teryx jacket I've owned, and it's only re-affirmed what I thought of the first: these are fine, minimalist pieces with everything one needs out of a shell but none of the unnecessary bells and whistles that would only weight it down. My life has taken me from a winter in Montana to southern Africa within the space of a year, and in both climes (and a lot in between), the jacket has been nothing short of stellar. It's a classic layering piece--and performs as well in winter backcountry treks as it does in summer pony treks through Lesotho. Having just taken out for its first week in the driving and notoriously un-ending winter rains of South Africa, I can certainly vouch for its waterproof-ness. Now, if only I could get to a colder clime again so I can show it some powder.
