disappointing mechanism   04-23-08

I was really optimistic about this knife for an everyday carry. Its size is within the range that I like for an everyday folder, and the blade shape is functional while not appearing weapon-like. The problem lies with the folding mechanism. It certainly works, but it’s not a very good one-handed mechanism. It’s gimmicky and requires too many extraneous motions to be efficient. I get hand cramps just thinking about opening and closing this blade with one hand.

disappointing mechanism (revised)   04-28-08

I inadvertently scored this knife with 5 stars in my original review, but intended to score it with 2.

a very nice knife   04-28-08

I like this knife for an everyday carry. The blade shape is very functional and sturdy while not appearing weapon-like; the serrations work as well or better than most others I've tried for cutting line; and the opening mechanism is slick. Its size is on the larger end of the range I like for a folder with a clip, but still not too big for a hip pocket. The only thing that detracts from its design is the lack of any relief on the thumb-side scale to allow easy access to the blade release. Consequently, closing the knife requires a little more attention than better liner-lock-type mechanisms.
