The Redpoint Optimus is the Stealth Bomber of The North Face’s Summit Series. It’s incredibly light weight and athletic cut masks its extraordinary warmth. The cut is slim but not restrictive, with plenty of room under the arms for free movement. The dropped tail is effective in our NYC winters. Plus the black-on-black styling is a welcome counterpoint to the garish poseurs pretending Manhattan is just a suburb of Aspen or Zermatt. For the money, for the weight, for the warmth and functionality, this jacket defies expectations to be superior.
