Marmot Randonnee Ski Pant - Men's    This product is no longer available

Marmot Randonee ski pant   01-08-07

The only problem with the Marmot ski pants is fit. I tried Marmot ski pants, including the Randonee, that were ok around the belly but waaay too long in the leg. I also tried Marmot ski pants that were ok in leg length but impossible to close around the belly. I am of very average proportions - 5'8 or so in height, about 160 pounds, and take a 34 waist. I finally found this one pair of Randonee pants that fit perfectly. They also performed perfectly in conditions where one could sweat, freeze, and get wet - and with these pants, I was comfortable and dry. They are totally waterproof and breath well. The knee pad inserts are great for a number of reasons, even though I don't tele. I was taking video of participants in a ski clinic, for example, and was kneeling to get some of the shots. I'm glad I bought the Marmot Randonee pants and recommend them to anyone who wants complete protection with breathability.

Recommended in July . . . but wait . . .   07-21-08

Having been asked to write a review of the Dalbello Krypton Il Moro, the best I can do this 21st day of July is to say that they fit great, they flex great, the adjustments are great, I'm glad I got 'em - but PLEASE give me a chance actually to ski in them before I write a real review. Four and a half months.

Marmot Resolution Ski Jacket - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Marmot Resolution - the best features for me.   01-08-07

I tried (inside at home, not yet on the hill) a number of jackets, and the Marmot Resolution is clearly, far and away the most practical for me. It's very well made, and it has very practical features. The two way front zipper (two sliders) is a great feature and should be available on all jackets. I like the very, very small use of Velcro, especially in the front. Other jackets of this type have a flap covering the zipper and use Velcro to keep the flap closed. I find that to be a royal pain, and I'm delighted that the outside zipper flap on the Resolution (there's also an inside zipper flap) stays closed without Velcro (except one at the collar when completely zipped up). Even the wrist closures use Velcro in a different way. The pockets are many, practical, and of good size. The only one I'd change is the sleeve pocket - I'd want it on the bicep rather that the forearm. Also, I'd brighten up the red color. Aside from those two things, it's PERFECT! I'll report again after I've actually used in on the mountain.

Mountain Hardwear Tenacity Descent Jacket - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Tenacity Descent Jacket - not quite right for me.   01-08-07

I only tried this jacket on before returning it. This is a very well made jacket which features a two-way front zipper (two sliders), something I particularly like. Unlike the Arc'Teryx jackets, it has useful pocket space. It was short in the back, though, and not as practical as the Marmot Resolution, which I purchased.
