Kudos Scarpa

I got the ZG 65s to replace a pair of completely worn out SL-M3s, which are Scarpa’s heavy leather trekking boot. I always felt invincible in the SL-M3s; they could handle anything. But I wanted a lighter, cooler, less expensive and more agile boot for off-trail day hikes in the Arizona desert. I got what I wanted with the ZG 65s. When I first scrambled up a (dry) granite waterfall with them, I just had to smile. They don’t feel as stable overall as the SLs on rocky terrain, of course, but the trade-off is totally acceptable. Also, the break-in period was negligible. I spent a full day hiking with them right out of the box without consequence (i.e. hot spots, etc). I should mention that I use custom Superfeet insoles, and had transferred the old set into the new boots. Highly recommended |
