Don't try this at home

What can I say? They're pitons. I hear they are ugly, but I don't use them on mountains. My climbing is in underwater caves, and pitons are the only secure way of "climbing" down against the flow of a 1st-magnitude spring. They hold well over time. I only wish I could get them in stainless-steel. |

Worked well enough.

Nothing's worse than catching an edge on your board and slamming your knees on hard, icy snow; well SOME things are worse I guess. Anyway, these pads fit nicely under my pants and surprisingly stayed put all day (though without any straps I expected them to move around). The round-molded kneecap insert seems to help keep them centered. Padding is light, but helps with minor falls, though they're not going to do much if you're running wide-open. I'm small (14" kneecap circumference) and the mediums fit "snug" but comfortable. To steal a line from Zeppelin, you "big-legged-women" better go for the large! |
