basic rain pants

Got these to keep in my ski pack on backcountry trips for when it rains or as a wind pant in case of weather changes. I had several chances to use them for both instances skiing here in the PNW and they worked well, rainproof yet breathable. My only comment is I wish the ankle zippers were more effective - there's a sheath connecting the cuffs even when unzipped, makes it hard to get over tele boots. Otherwise, good stuff. |

nice little pack

This pack did just what I hoped for - hold gear and skis for backcountry skiing day trips comfortably. Its narrow profile and high ride on the back keep it out of the way when I'm skiing and the ski straps do their job well when I have to boot up to the steeps. The main section holds a lot and the top pocket on the lid is great for easy-to-get-to stuff. There’s even an inner pocket in the main section good for maps and stuff you want to keep totally dry. The bivy pad is hard to get in and out but it's nice to know it's there as a backup and makes for a comfortable feel against the back. The outer tie-offs are well-placed to carry shovels and such. I'd give it a 4.5 rating if there was one to give but I dock a half-star for the pad situation. |
