Nothing spectacular but probably good performance

I tried this jacket as part of my mad hunt for head to toe Gore-Tex. The 2 reasons I returned it: it's not much to look at and I could feel the pit zips all the time. The features are pretty good though and the end of season sale price is a good price for a Gore-Tex jacket. I especially liked the stashable powder skirt, Lycra wrist cuffs (with see through watch patch) and CamelBak pocket, things not every jacket has. I love the pass pocket (it's on the bottom and you flip up your jacket to display it) and think it should be standard on all snow jackets, but with both a regular and goofy side option (turning around to show it in the lift line sucks). I couldn't figure out wtf the "fembot pocket" even was and the internal chest pocket was stiff and bulky and way too complicated for me. It comes with a separate neck gaiter, which was a nice touch but not a selling point for me. I don't understand why no women's Gore-Tex jackets (except one Arcteryx that cost waaay too much) have a detachable or stowable hood. At least make the hood helmet compatible! Seriously, normal hoods just become a powder scoop for me. |

Pretty good product but didn't work for me

I tried on every pair of Gore-Tex pants for women I could find around the end of the 06/07 season. While I think pretty highly of these pants, I returned them in favor of the Burton Henna pants and jacket but these roxy pants were my 2nd choice. They have a great fit and seemed true to size. They are not baggy in the hip/butt but still let you move by being just loose enough in the thigh. The all black is kinda boring and probably too warm in sunny conditions. The waist is fairly low, not showing crack but still modern and stylish. The roxy jacket compatible zip-in option would assure you won't get pow down your pants, but I couldn't find a jacket it was compatible with (it was the end of the season). Also, the zipper to connect it to a jacket is at the very top edge of the waistband and could potentially snag your shirt or be scratchy. I didn't feel that when just trying them on but it seemed like it might be an issue. Other drawbacks are not enough pockets - the 2 hand pockets are incredibly hard to get into and if I am recalling correctly (I tried many pants in my hunt) the "cargo" pockets were on the side and back of the thigh, so you couldn't put anything bulky in there or it would poke you when you sat down. Essentially this left no comfortable place to store anything bigger than money or credit cards. The real deal breaker for me was the fleece lining in the butt and knees. I got intolerably hot instantly, even though the inner thigh vents are nice and long. I guess I'm just a sweaty beast. |

I NEED SNOW!!!

I can't wait to get this shell out in the snow to see if it breathes and if it's waterproof but so far I've been very pleased with the purchase. It has completely open pit vents instead of the usual inch or two wide mesh. As a chronically overheated person, I know this will come in handy on the slopes so long as I don't forget to close them before plowing into powder! The zippers are a bit stiff when closed, but hopefully they will soften up with use. The form of the jacket is a close cut perfect for a woman's form but not tight in the shoulders or chest. So far a killer purchase for the price! |
