great BC and resort boot
03-20-07 ![]() |
The Garmont SynerG is by far the most comfortable touring boot while giving adequate support and energy transfer for charging hard lines. No pinch spots and no sore feet right out of the box. I haven't even molded the liners yet and may not as they feel great as is. Two thumbs up to Garmont! |

Great softshell for BC touring & yo-yoing
02-04-07 ![]() |
First, let me start by saying that the fit is spot on. I don't know what the first reviewer with the "powerful backside" is talking about. I am a natural bodybuilder - I usually wear mediums and ordered the mediums in this pant. They fit great with room for a Patagonia 2 cap underneath. The construction is great. I would like the pants better with a suspender option but the belt loops work fine. I DO agree that the internal draw-chord is pretty-much useless. The finish hardware is of much higher quality than the Cloudveil pants. I had to return the Zero-G pants because the snap on the gaiter broke my very first time wearing them as I was walking from the car to the lift. The 3/4 water tight leg vent zipper works very well. Another great product from Mountain Hardwear. |

Awesome BC Pant

I've used these pants at the resort twice and just got back from a three-day hut trip with days spent yo-yoing above and through tree-line. I used the Arc'Teryx mid-weight boot-length underwear alone under these pants in temps between 32 and 0 degrees F. They were awesome - stayed up well with a full pack on, using only a belt. Fit is great, cut is perfect for making tele turns. Highly recommended! |

Love it
09-12-06 ![]() |
I've had the Nut Beret for almost four years now. It's kept my head warm everywhere from Colorado foothill camping trips to above tree line after dark in the dead of winter on a few hut trips. When it's really cold and windy you can pull the Gore Windstopper ear flap down for extra protection. You can't beat this hat. Plus it's just plain cool. I always get a ton of compliments on it. Thanks Mountain Hardware! |

Best I've owned
01-29-08 ![]() |
I'm on my third pair - I lost a pair in the surf in Playa del Carmen, lost another pair kayaking - think I would learn, eh? Anyway, I've tried a few Oakley shades because everyone raves about Oakley but these are the best shades I have ever owned. They do not fog, period! I use these when riding my motorcycle and have zero problems with wind in my eyes. For the money, these can't be beat! Buy a pair today, you will not be disappointed. |

itchy and costly
01-18-08 ![]() |
It's no surprise that Arc'teryx is extremely proud of their merch. I bit anyway as I own some of their gear and am satisfied with it. This hat is just an average grade wool hat with their logo stitched on. There is a fleece ear band that helps but too much of the wool cap extends below the fleece band, which results in a very itchy hat. Better look for another hat. |

Great Boot - Better than Vasque Sundowner
07-31-08 ![]() |
I had a pair of Vasque Sundowners for years and loved them. They were holding up well but I was soldering a pipe and dripped solder into the boot linings (Doh!) Couldn't get the solder out of the fabric. So, I did the research, read some reviews and decided on the Scarpas. I am totally pleased with the decision. As others have noted, they fit right out of the box and required no break-in period. Went for a six mile hike that day I received them and had no discomfort and no blisters! Very stable. I'm 5'9", 180 lbs. My foot is a little narrower than average and these fit great with a smartwool light-weight hiking sock. Great price and received them in three days with the free shipping. I highly recommend these boots! |

Comfortable, light and very warm
01-25-08 ![]() |
Great coat! I am a huge MH fan. Having said that, the jacket could be improved by the addition of a microfleece chin liner. I've had a few tiny feathers poke through but not enough that I'm concerned. Very compressible. Best coat out there for the money. Very warm. |

Super comfortable

Great hat - a little too big for my small sized mellon. This is a spring - fall hat, not a winter hat. Don't look for this to keep you warm under 30 degrees. I'm usually warm when others are cold but on a few 20 degree nights I could literally feel the warmth escaping my head. |

Barely there
01-09-08 ![]() |
The Telekneesis knee pads from Black Diamond are great! I toured 4.5 miles to the 10th Mtn Hut and made BC turns all weekend and never knew they were on. They never slipped or rotated. These are the most comfortable knee pads I have ever worn. I played football from pee-wee though college, actively cave, do tile and floor work - so I know knee pads. I wear them under my Mountain Hardware Manuever pants without any restriction or binding. Buy these - you won't regret it! |

Nice pant - poor finish and fit.
01-29-07 ![]() |
Got these pants in Medium. The waist size was right on but leg length was way too long. When walking in tele boots they're alright but in street shoes they kept catching under my heel. First day out the cheap plastic snap on the bottom of the gaiter broke off as I was getting ready to head to the chair lift for my first run. Cloudveil should use better finishing components and offer different inseam lengths. The suspenders work well and are comfortable. |
