I was weary of ordering a Montrail boot because I had never worn a pair, and didnt' know much about the brand. I got these off SAC for sixty bucks, so I thought -why not? I was blown away by the fit, finish and overall feel of this light to mid weight hiker. great sole, lots of support around the ankle and very well padded. The boot comes up just a bit higher than I expected which is good from a support perspecive. I normally wear a 10.5 to 11 shoe, and I ordered this in an 11 which is perfect. The fit as thought they were built around my D width foot, and the toe box is very roomy. Though I have about a half inch in front of my toes, no matter what I do, i can't push my feet forward in the boot to touch the front, even on downslopes because the support and lacing is so precise. I don't have any problems with the laces as someone else did. Also, the lace eyelets are easily big enough to change laces of you find that necessary. I normally only wear Merrell boots, but these have made me a believer. I also think the boot is much better looking in person than in these pics here on BC. Best use in my opinion would be everything from day hikes up to long weekends with 30-40lb packs. I haven't been in super wet conditions yet, but the gore membrane is comforting if the skies open up.
