Does your layering system need a little help in the core? If you are really, really active, windproofing with high breathability on the core is very feasible. If you are not so active, wind shirts and vests, when used as a mid-layer system have been proven to work much better than comparable weight fleece layers as insulators due to the still breathing sub-climate contained by the wind shell. THAT is cutting edge wind shirt use folks, and the BEST use of this vest.

These Mercury Mitts are made for the winter temperatures you will encounter in the lower 48 states after dark or during storms. It is important to note that they are not too warm, meaning they can be worn on very cold days when you are moving also. Many Himilayan/Alaskan temperature rated mitts never get much use out of those altitudes and climates.
