Patagonia Down Jacket - Men's    This product is no longer available

Down Jacket - Mens   02-02-05

This is the best coat I've owned in a long time. It is simple (no extra pockets, pit zips, mp3 storage, etc.), but it keeps you really warm and packs down to nothing. It was the only coat I used on my last Colorado hut trip. It also doubles as a great bar hopping coat when it gets cold...

These look like quality items, but they do NOT fit telemark boots. The toe bail and the heel are too narrow for my 26.5 Scarpa T1 boots. I picked up a pair of Campmor Step-in crampons that worked great. Not sure what the difference is???

Spyder Venom Chute Pant - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Spyder Venom Chute Pants   07-26-07

Nice pants over all, but WAY too warm for me. They have a full length brushed fleece liner that would cook you on any thing other than an unexpected night out. Definitely not good for backcountry hikes. Good quality and average fit.

Life-Link Slopemeter    This product is no longer available

Must have   01-04-06

A slope meter is a very important tool for the backcountry skier. Amazing how easy it is to mis-judge the slope angle. This is the gold standard in slopemeters, and it also has a conversion chart on the back to measure slope angle on topo maps. Also serves as a good base scraper in a pinch!

Mountain Hardwear Transition Featherweight Zip - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Mtn HardwearTransition Zip-T   04-05-06

This is a great item! It is perfect for hiking or skinning in the late winter/early spring. Keeps you dry and comfortable in a variety of weather. It is even water proof to a point. The only drawbacks are that it is cut a little close (really long sleeves and tight, short waist for my pretty average frame), and it is not very comfy as a base layer as advertised by Mountain Hardwear. Definitely worth the money though, in my opinion. Order a size bigger than you normally wear, in my opinion.

Karhu Jak Telemark Ski    Read other reviews of this product

Karhu Jak 179cm   01-19-06

This ski is a lot of fun in the deep backcountry pow. Considering its width, it is also on the light side which is great for touring. However, the top sheet material is very easily damaged. I have only skied them 15 days and there are multiple gouges through the top sheet, with one starting to delaminate at the tip already. Hopefully they hold up for more than one season.

Black Diamond Telekneesis Kneepad    This product is no longer available

What kneepad?   01-04-06

Great knee pads, I forget they are on most of the time. I wear them every day, for alpine and telemark skiing. Even OK to hike/skin in! Not as burly as the Life Link model, but much more comfortable.

This is a great base layer, and I've worn it every day skiing since I got it. The anti-stink technology does what it claims. One complaint; the neck is pretty small, and large heads will have trouble squeezing through.

Teton Backcountry Ski Pole   02-02-05

These poles have worked great so far. The length adjustment works well and doesn't slip, and the large baskets are nice for the deep snow. They are on the heavy side, but can't be beaten for the price!
