The design of this particular bag is great. Simple, clean and highly accessable pockets for everyday items such as pens and pencils. The messenger strap is very comfortable and easily the best I've ever used. The two straps for the backpack feature however are only adequate and do not have the same padding material as the messenger strap. Comfort using these straps are adequate although I don't recommend a heavy load. As far as the padding for laptops is concerned, the bottom "airlift" feature is excellent as it keeps the laptop from being damaged from a vertical drop, but that is probably the only positive I can see from this bag. The front, back and sides lack anything even remotely close to being "protective". The material feels like a thin sponge wrapped in a layer of fuzzy cloth...aka get yourself a laptop sleeve if you want true wrap around protection. If you have a 15" widescreen Powerbook or wider I do not suggest this bag for you as the top zipper barely zips over my laptop and leaves an extremely tight fit. Overall a great bag for classes or paperwork without the impractical frills. Only smaller laptops will be able to get away with the lack of protection this bag provides and larger model owners should have second thoughts.
