Awesome Canyoneering Shoes!
10-08-07 ![]() |
These shoes delivered grip and comfort by the bucket! I used them for the first time in Zion's Subway Slot Canyon. They gripped on wet and dry stone alike, down the loose approach trail, through streams and waterfalls. Only slimy green algae could defeat them so no surprise there. The shoes were on my feet for about 9 hours with no blisters, shin splints or discomfort at all. I wore regular socks on the approach and neoprene "warmers" in the water. A lot of bang for the buck and they don't look any worse after their first trip; no fraying or discoloring. |

Great for Backcountry and Canyoneering
08-01-08 ![]() |
I have used this rope to rappel in Zion's Subway Slot Canyon and also in a little known slot called West Canyon off of Lake Powell. It works great for slow rappels, does not absorb too much water, dries quickly and does not stretch too much under load. We carry two of the ropes in order to handle longer descents. I also like having a rope with me for backcountry scrambles but don't want the weight of a 60m x 11mm monster. |

Great for Canyoneering

Lightweight, compact, bomber strength and simple to work with. Can be used for going back up ropes, getting over short dropoffs without deploying a rope or for getting out of potholes. A great tool to pack along. |

Goood Value

I've used Fox protective gear a lot and they can take a lot of abuse. I ride 2 - 3 times a week on SoCal Trails and bring these lightweight guards with me for the gnarly descents. They are very comfortable with little restriction of movement. My only note to Fox would be to have some way to fasten the loose ends of the adjustment straps so they don't flap at 40 MPH on a fast downhill fireroad. :-) |

My OR Expe Gaiters are GREAT!!!

I used mine on Denali for days and days with absolutely no problems. The fit was great and on summit day they easily worked with my OR Brooks Ranger overboots. If you do your research you can buy the right stuff that fits well. If you make a mistake when ordering it is your responsibility to make it right, not OR's. |

Worked great on Denali!

Yes, it can be improved. However it was great on Denali (May '05) when ascending from 17k to the summit. I too wish it had covered my nose, however. I layered a Mountain Hardwear Windstopper balaclava (awesome) over it so I had all the angles and nose covered. |

When I summited Denali, I had this lightweight gem in my pack. I also use it to extend the warmth of my 900-fill TNF 15-degree bag. Very versatile! |

If you are going to go with tops and bottoms instead of a one-piece suit, these pants are the way to go. On Denali we had pretty fair weather and were on and off the mountain in 14 days. Now I have to cook up another adventure to put these fine pants to the test. |
