Installed directly to an outback. Fits perfect, very stable, does not interfere with rear door and it looks great. Mounting the bike is very easy. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The only thing I would recommend is a steel locking mechanism. If I was in a bad neighbor hood I would probably use a cable lock also. Boo to Thule and all their proprietary accessories.
