Great for layering. Have yet to use it as a single layer. Generally will add an Icebreaker piece underneath the hardshell on colder days when skiing the backcountry.

Functionally the jacket is great. Sizing for this particular softshell runs as the Arcteryx hardshells do—larger. My Gamma SV softshell fits great, the Gamma MX Hoody is almost too large on me. It’s great for adding lots of layers underneath, but it doesn’t have the slim cut of most softshells.
