Works Great So Far...   07-10-04

I spent a long time researching altimeter watches trying to figure out which one is the best for my uses. I just moved to CO, and have been getting into hiking and camping, and a variety of outdoor high altitude activities. I purchased this watch about a month ago, and it has been to the top of two 14ers (Beirstadt and Quandery) with me. I especially like the fact that you can keep a log that you can uplink to your computer and see stats of your hike. At the top of the 14er's the altimeter was a little under, once by about 300' (Bierstadt, I attribute it to the weather) and by about 100' on Quandery. Being the weekend hiker that I am, I don't see how that difference is of any real inportance, and I think that most of the difference is due to my not calibrating it correctly. Other reviews have mentioned that the X6's backlight isn't bright enoug: To that, I say that you must have really bad eyes, I have had no issues reading this display from any angle. I really like the button layout, and the menu driven interface, it makes it very easy to get around and configure. The other thing that I've read about is the infamous "reset to factory default time" problem with earlier runs from Suunto. As long as your watch's serial # starts with a number above 310 you should be OK. Overall, I'm loving it so far!
