Flat not Fast
07-07-04 ![]() |
When I first started running on these shoes, mainly 4x4 trails in the hills near my house, I found these shoes to be flat and clunky compared to my trusty Nike Zoom Steens. Sure they did the job but the sole did not have enough rocker to allow me to really turn up the pace. Then I took them on a run in the Ruby Mountains and realized what these shoes were designed for. Trail running on technical steep terrain. They have great lateral support, enough cushioning to protect from sharp objects and plenty of traction. If you love to run on these type of trails I highly recommend them, just don't ask these shoes to turn out 7 min. miles. |

Worth It!

Wasn't sure whether to get the lighter G-Rides or the heavier stiffer Adrenalins. Boy am I happy I choose the later. They only weigh a few ounces more but the stiffness seems to be worth it. My 185 B3's(2004) outfitted with Freerides rode like a full alpine setup. I'm not super agressive but also not afraid to tackle a 50 degree line either. Ive only had one day on these but wouldn't recommend them for long tours, as for day trips into the BC, no worries. Also these come with alpine soles so you can use them with your alpine setup-hey 2 boots for the price of one. As a side note I'm 6'2" about 230(aka overweight) and a expert skier whose not about killin it but can hold my own. Look forward to more days, the Rubies should be good for a at least another month of creamy corn. |
