I bought these sandals due to a foot condiiton that was causing me a lot of pain on the trail. It took me a little while to build up some ankle strength but then these sandals became my only hiking shoe. I have hiked over 1000 miles on the Appalachian Mountains in these wonderful sandals. The molded foot bed has wonderful support. It is amazing how much of a beating my Chacos' straps have taken and are still in one piece. Any other sandal would have been history by now. -- I bought a "knock off" brand but could tell within hours that they were not the same. Gifted them to my daughter and bought myself another pair of the "real Chacos". I now have 3 pairs. One for hiking with the upgraded sole and a couple of other colors for around town. It takes a while to figure out how to adjust them but after the learning curve they are fabulous sandals.
