Not bad

Nice mid-weight, simple jacket. Appears sturdy and well-made, feels substantial without bulk. However, this runs on the large side. I'm 5'7" and 135 lb and I got the medium. If they had it, I'd exchange for a small but this is nice enough I won't return it. If you have larger boobs, this will work well for you. Toasty warm in 40 degree temp with tee underneath. Will work well with what I wanted it for. Don't know yet about it's wind-breaking capacity or how well it breathes. Long enough and doesn't ride up. Quite flared at the hem so if you don't cinch it, it leaves a big breezy gap poking out in front. Cut/style remains nice looking when cinched at the hem which not all jackets do. Long arms but I like them that way. Would've liked pockets up high so as not to interfere with a pack. Be aware the "Espresso" color is more deep maroon than brown-ish. I don't know where anyone finds maroon colored espresso but whatever. |

Pretty Sharp

Nice coat. Clean lines and superb, feminine fit. Sleeves are not gusseted, but no matter, there's almost no ride-up. I've wore it around in 20 degree temps and am quite warm w/plain shirt underneath, but I've not yet tested in wind or rain. It is designated waterproof, so we'll see. This coat feels great on. The insulation is very non-bulky, sweet to move around in, and doesn't interfere whatsoever in full range of motion. Nice! Very sporty looking but not in the same manner as say, an Arc'teryx or Cloudveil. No powder skirt but has separate pull-cord hem inside the bottom pockets to maintain a very secure, and even fit around the hips (doesn't give the "I've been cinched at the waist with a string!" look)which is a really nice feature. It also has a hem draw-cord for additional protection. It's zips are not laminated which gives a jacket a nice look, but they are protected by flaps. Still, I like laminated zips so I would prefer that. The side zips are OK, we'll see how much venting they give. The hood fits very nice, is stowable, has a non-intrusive brim, and has adjustable pull cords at sides as well as a pull cord at the back. Does not interfere with vision at all. I would've liked the collar to be insulated at the front, but it is more than adequate and soft on the inside. I hate the side-zip collar on my Arc'Teryx which is highly annoying, so this feels really nice in comparison...it can be "half zipped" and still comfortable unlike the Arc's side-zip. It's not too high, nor too low. Just right. I wouldn't want to pay full price for it, but for this sale price I don't think you can beat this jacket. As for length, it rides to just above my hip socket, a very good length imho. As to sizing, it runs just a bit large. If you are small chested/small framed go with an extra small. I'm a 36" bust with slightly broad shoulders and the small is perfect. Lastly, with all the Cloudveils, Mountain Hardwears, and Arc's out there, it's really going to be nice to be sporting something not everyone and their dog is wearing. I love this coat! (so far). |

Love 'em

This is my second pair as I like them that much. Can wear them all day. May want to size down a half size, as they are a bit long in the toe. I use them for bumming around and light hike/trail runs. Lateral stability is fairly good. I have low arches and so far have not needed to exchange insoles. Also, if you have very wide feet, they may not work for you in the toe box. I've kicked around in very cold (15 to 30 degrees)and hot wetaher up to 80 degrees. They have an uncanny ability to be suitable for both. Not highly waterproof, but will deflect light moisture. |

Meh.

As the above respondent noted, it's too short in front. And that's saying a lot considering I am short-waisted. I am rather annoyed that so many tech shells seem to be sized so short...in the real world most of us aren't looking to strap into a climbing harness. This thing rises to the rib cage when arms are extended up, carrying my thin baselayer shirt with it. Couple this with medium-rise pants and voila, instant full-on, belly bonanza. Even just hunching my shoulders up makes this go up to just below my belly button. I'm constantly having to pull it back down, even when just standing. Can you tell I'm annoyed? It's also sized small through the chest. I'm a 34 (according to size chart I'm a size sm in this) but a "C" cup. This is too small for a "C." I thought about sizing up, but then realized the mid-section would look big and floppy on my smaller waist, giving me a boxy look. It does seem to be wind-resistant, so it may work well for cycling, and it doesn't rise up too badly when you are in "road bike" position. I would return this but the Steep and Cheap deal was decent, and this item seems to work really quite decently under my Arcteryx shell as a mid layer,(but you'd better tuck your baselayer into your pants and cinch down that powder skirt on your shell) so for that I'll give it a 3 instead of a 2. Please, somebody bring back a little length to tech jackets. This is getting ridiculous. Put even an inch in front- length on this and I'd be a hell of a lot happier. |

Took this coat out on the slopes where the temps hovered at sub zero to 4 degrees F. Wore a baselayer shirt and a fleece jacket underneath. Simply wonderful, not cold even on the lift (and I do get cold easily). Non bulky even with fleece underneath, and absolutely no restriction of movement. Can't recommend this coat highly enough. |

Good but...

Just a bit too short for my tastes. I'm close to 5'7 1/2, have about a 31.5 inseam so finding pants long enough can be a hassle. Otherwise the fit on these is highly flattering, hugging the curves without making any and every little extra pound pooch out in odd places. Super comfy, and well-made. They are just a little lower than mid-rise, so if you have a tummy you might get a bit of muffin top effect. I'm 136#, got the size 4 and they were just a bit small-ish, but as another poster stated, they'll also stretch out a bit. |
