Very Impressive Pack!
03-30-09 ![]() |
I just took this pack down to Coal Pit's Wash outside of Zion NP and was impressed with how tight the pack holds everything in a minimalist design that is very durable and light. The 420D fabric is super bombproof and didn't rip at all on the rocks, cacti, and trees it brushed up against on the trek. I found the bladder adapter to be quite simple and effective as well for easy access to a drink of water. Overall, a great design for those quick alpine ascents and two night desert trips. I would not recommend the Naos 55 for any trips over 2 nights if you are taking a sleeping pad, tent, sleeping bag and cooking gear as it is a bit small for anything over a short jaunt. I would recommend the Naos 70 for anything else over 2 nights if you have a ton of gear. My only problems with the pack was the waist belt rubbing on my hip a bit, which was annoying but could be something to do wtih adjustments to the pack perhaps. Also, the side gear straps could be made a bit larger for adjusting to larger diameter tents (when packed), but I managed to squeeze it in there. Overall, this would be a great pack in coastal rainy climates or a super durable pack or mountainous/desert climates as well. |

Pretty basic quality denim

This is a pretty nice looking pant and fits more relaxed than baggy for sure. Even though it is in the baggy section on the site, this pant really is not all that baggy; I would say it is more relaxed than anything but still allows enough room if you were to go skating in it. Overall true to fit; I wear a 34 and the 34x30 is just fine as it fits on the waist and leg. All in all, I would suggest this pant if you want a super basic no thrills jean. |

The Killer Goat

So far, so good. This bottle is perfect to make the transition from the # 7 Nalgene bottles that there was a scare about. Despite the product description, DO NOT boil water in this bottle as it explicitly states not to use it for hot beverages on the labels. Overall, very durable bottle and I have to ask, what metal does not sweat when you put cold beverages in it? I have not dropped off any buildings to test strength yet, but it seems really solid. If you want a nice alternative to poisonous plastics, this would be a great choice. One side note to backcountry: can this be made in a simple liter version? I have had a lot of people ask why there is not a liter version... |

Good Chillin' Pants

Well, this pant is a bit tighter fitting than I was expecting. But it is still quite comfortable and fits true to size. I wear a 34 and bought a 34 regular which fits nicely. The Asphalt Grey color is unique looking and stylish. I would say this a regular to relaxed fit, but definitely not baggy by an means. |

The Magic All-in-One Tool

Not, the lightest tool in the bunch, but it is the one with all the tools! This Wave tool is great for any job around the house or great option to keep in the car. I would not recommend for backpacking, as it is a bit heavier, but this is the go-to tool for home repair and a great one to keep on the belt if you need one for work with ample options. The best tools on this are the saw, pliers, and the nice long knife blade to make it quite the verstatile, compact too. |

Nice response, lightweight
03-19-09 ![]() |
These bindings are super nice for park and all mountain freestyle, with plenty of response. Regardless of the other comments here on the wall, Ride does make a pretty durable binding. These particular bindings are intended for those who want a minimalist design with plenty of response, hence the thin ankle strap and low profile footbeds on the binding. If you spend a lot of time in the park, want a flexy binding for freestyle, or take the occasional big mountain run then this is your binding. |

So nice all over!
03-19-09 ![]() |
This board truly UL-ultralight. Sick for use in the backcountry as it weighs nothing to carry up, and handles very solid in backcountry and resort conditions like a Cadillac. If you want an advanced freeride board with a freestyle feel to it, this is one of the lightest on the market. I thought it had plenty of pop to ollie with off features, and could really hold a solid edge at high speeds on variable terrain/conditions. Recommended for those who want to rip all over the mountain and still feel at home taking a run through the park, on the same board. Get yours today! |

Sick Base Layer
02-03-09 ![]() |
This short is awesome if you hate full length long underwear with snowboarding boots. They are long enough to keep you warm and not get in the way with other layers. They actually keep you pretty warm with wearing under a shell/Gore Tex pant. On a side note, the Flash Red is actually a brighter fire engine red than the color that displays on the site here, which appears more red-orange. Overall, killer design and eco friendly base layer for all you hippies out there. |

Misfits + Grenade= Hella Cool

This glove is a great spring glove or driving glove in the winter. The palms and fingers have a sticky coating for gripping and ripping. Plus, you'll get great compliments and have a boosted status level among peers and family members. Overall, not the best winter glove as not really insulated, but a great lighter glove for various uses. |

Very Niiicceee.
02-03-09 ![]() |
I bought this pole for snowshoeing and backcountry snowboarding. I have had great luck with them thus far and they seem light enough for the price paid and for my use. For all that have broken them, maybe they aren't designed for full-on bombing down at 70 mph, hence the word traverse pole? This is a great pole for snowshoeing or hiking up backcountry tours as well. Overall, I would recommend it for anyone looking for a great value. Plus if they break and you buy them here, you are taken care of ASAP. Backcountry.com rules all return policies on the web, hands down. |

A Rad Scrambler
11-22-08 ![]() |
This shoe is quite amazing out of the box. And very light too! You can barely tell they are on your feet. I wear a 10 in all shoes mostly and this one fits true to size, but does run just a tad on the smaller side like the others said. I ordered the 10 and it fits very nice. The toe box is roomy, yet offers great protection when you kick that hidden rock while hiking or scrambling. Speaking of scrambling, the grip on this shoe is substantial for those looking for a shoe to run around mesas in the desert or climb up sketch inclines while hiking. The shoe does fit very low on the ankle, so do not buy this shoe if you are looking for high ankle support. Overall, a great job on design for this shoe. I would highly recommend this shoe to others looking for a great waterproof hiking, running, or scrambling shoe. |
