sizing wow!   05-29-09

I ordered these in the 45.5 (11) and they felt a half size, if not a whole size too small. I wanted to like them so much that I wore them for a day and even ran in them. My running socks proved to be the deciding factor as they made them definitely too small. I feel that even if they had fit right that there wouldn't have been enough padding in the shoe to sell me on them. And my feet are a normal width, these were wayy narrow. On the flip side they look SWEET, the outsoles seem to be a good design with the built in flex and the rubber is really grippy and supportive. I live in Eastern NC where my biggest obstacle is very rooty trails and they were supportive enough handle the dodging maneuvers necessary to ward off sprains. Just not for me.

Montrail Highlander Trail Running Shoe - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

I dig this shoe   06-29-09

This is my first Montrail shoe. I like the fit, but lacing takes some thought. When laced right these things lock your heel into the most supportive hold I've ever felt in a shoe. I thought at first that the arch support in the insole was just really far back, which felt kind of awkward. Once I laced them up though I was sold. What makes this better is the roomy toebox which has helped to keep my feet cool (with the right socks, I prefer Ultimax X-static, for 80 deg. temps and up - I've tried running in Smartwool Adrenalines but they were too hot for this time of year. I run in eastern NC at a state park (Goose Creek) where the trails can get very rooty, there are entire unavoidable root beds that can be treacherous, you have to hop from one root to another one and foot placement is paramount. It can be challenging to not twist an ankle and the Gryptonite outsoles on the Highlander rise to the challenge, locking on to the root of my choice. I've never felt unstable or unsafe doing this, and that says a lot because if I were to sprain an ankle it'd mean walking through miles of a swampy, mosquito-ridden, humid ecosystem. Not that bad to run through, but I don't dare stop. For as breathable as the mesh is they are very water repellent. I normally wear an 11 US and these are an 11.5. I probably wouldn't have kept them if they were elevens. Size up at least half a size. As for aesthetics, well, the silver strips on the side looked white to me so they came as a bit of a surprise. After I got over them and compromised that I wasn't trying to make a fashion statement they grew on me. I liked the look in the photo and I like the look on my feet better. They are very distinguished shoes that look as if they were made for a purpose. Construction is bomber so far. The price? Oh, the price. Well, the price is out of this world for the quality, name, looks, etc...

Icebreaker Sport320 Rock 1/4-Zip Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Disappointed with the fit   05-06-09

wow, how the pictures of this shirt on models do lie. If you look at Icebreaker's model, he makes this shirt look narrow cut (athletic) and long. At 6' 180 lbs. the large was the exact opposite. Even as regular non-tech piece I wouldn't wear it. The fit, in a L, was wide cut and the length was short. The length could've been forgiven but the width was way too baggy. I can't imagine the medium fitting better unless they cut the shirt with a totally different fit in mind. My first IB buy and 0 for 1 so far. I won't give up, they can't all fit that way, but this'uns a dud. I will say that the wool felt great and the build quality seemed, upon inspection, to make for a superior product were it not for the fit. Not for us thin guys, and I'm not that thin, unless you like a BAGGY fit. Three stars for build quality, fit is subjective but deceiving with regards to pictures.

Great Shirt!   04-22-09

I couldn't be happier with the quality, meeting of expectations or look. I'm 6' 180 lbs. and the large fits great. I wore it out to the Linville Gorge in mid-April when it was a 50's and overcast and was very comfortable. It breathed well so I didn't overheat when on strenuous parts but was all I needed, with a TNF ruckus shirt underneath, around the campfire. Bought it on SAC but can justify full price and look forward to getting more of these shirts.

Volcom Stone Suit Vest - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Gotta figure out how to wear this thing 'cuz it's chill   02-18-09

Sweet looking vest. As far as the fit (m), I'm 6'0 ~180 lbs. and it's... form-fitting with a button down shirt and tie. It might be a little short but I'm not really sure how a vest is supposed to fit, I'm confident enough in it to wear it without a coat. I also tried the large, in black, and wasn't really crazy about the way it fit me, not form-fitting enough for my build. I like snug fits. I bought it for work in a restaurant, but then I quit. I'm hoping to find a few ways to wear it as it is too late to return now. Without the suit you have to be creative with ways to wear this thing to avoid a fashion faux-pas (if you care).

good-looking shirt   02-16-09

I'm 6', 180lbs and, like all of Volcom's shirts that I've bought, this fits me great. I don't like baggy shirts and this fits great without being too tight. I ordered a medium, tucked or untucked it works well.

fly-ass gloves   02-16-09

Great gloves for taking the numbing wind chill off of my hands on early morning runs. The rubber grips are awesome too, they don't hamper articulation at all when cooking backcountry meals. Buy 'em,

comfy pad   11-08-08

I couldn't be happier for the cost. It is kind of rediculous to sell the stuff sack separately, but it's worth it to buy, though, because it ain't fitting inside your pack and it'll be exposed on the outside. A very comfortable night's rest
