Solid Tent for all seasons

I spent 14 hours in this tent in a driving Sierra rain storm at ~8,000'. Winds gusting to 50-60 mph, rain coming down in buckets and this tent was dry as could be inside. In the winter, camped at ~9,800' on a cold cloudless night. A little snug for two, but sleeping sardine style helped a lot. Barely noticed the other person in the tent. I'm pretty confident this tent will suit my needs in the high Sierra for some time to come - for all seasons. |

Excellent addition

Having a waterproof shell along on any length hike is almost a must have. Unfortunately, most rain jackets weigh-in at 12-18oz. This jacket weighs 6.5oz (186g) in size XL. That's just 2 oz more than the lightest XXL T-shirt I own. It breathes nicely so it doesn't leave you feeling clammy. In terms of fit, I've always have had problems with TNF jackets being too short in sleeve length. The XL is right at the limit for me in terms of size. With a 50" chest, 38" waist, and 36" sleeve length it's on the border of needing to be an XXL. I wore it as the final layer of three on a couple of colder evenings. It blocked the wind nicely and was a nice comfortable (and light) jacket to have along. |

Nice light bowl

Having a bowl along on a trip makes eating a much more civil event when in the wilderness. But when adding 4-8 oz of additional weight to do so, something has got to give. The Snow Peak Ti bowl I received weighs 53g (1.75oz). Hardly a noticeable addition to pack weight. It is strong and light and holds more than 2 servings of cereal, pasta, soup, etc. Being able to eat while cooking the 2nd course is a nice luxury to have. |

Excellent pack

I've tried Osprey Switch packs - too heavy empty. Mountain Hardware Glisse Pack - ok, but not great, Life-Link Granite - too small. This pack fits the need. At 29 oz it can piggy back on a larger approach pack easily for day tripping from a base camp. For day use, it has all the room you need for skins, crampons, shovel, probe, emergency kit, scraper, knife, gob-stopper, 30m of rope + simple web gear, water, lunch, goggles, spare gloves. It carries skis best A-frame and serves as a nice day-pack for summer outings. |
