great for martial arts

I bought these pants for martial arts practice and they are the best non-baggy pants I have ever tried. For extreme flexibility, nothing beats true baggy pants, like ones made by Otomix, but these Prana Titans look a lot nicer and can be worn almost anywhere. These are the only pants of their kind that allow me to do full splits or high kicks, although when I start sweating, they become a little binding. Their cut is different from most climbers' pants--with pants like Gramiccis, I have to pull the waist up high above my hips to be able to do the splits and even then, find them too binding. The material is really soft and comfortable and the two-opening pockets (zip and velcro) are really convenient. The velcro fly is unusually short, but I think that is how Prana gets the flexible cut right--if the fly were of typical length, I would probably have to pull the waist up high to do the splits, etc. So, for activities requiring extreme flex, like Yoga or martial arts, you'll be hard pressed to find better everyday pants than these. However, if your climbing doesn't require this much flex, I think Gramiccis are more durable and a better value. |

very comfortable and durable pants

The Sonoras may be my favorite prAna pants, although I like all the models I've tried (Zion, Titan, Argus, Sonora, etc.). They are very soft and comfortable and more durable than the thinner-material Titans. They allow a full range of motion for either climbing or martial arts. They don't making annoying "swish" noises like the synthetic-blend models do, but they also don't dry as quickly. If you are traveling and need to do laundry out of the bathroom sink, Zions would be better. For general use, though, these are a really choice. |
