Decent mitts lacking some finesse
03-29-07 ![]() |
The Latitude mitts work ok, but are not as good as the mitts they replaced in my gear stash. The shortcomings include cuffs that are a bit too short and no buttery-soft snot wiping fabric on the upper thumb. On the positive side, the cinching system works great, and the mitts seem to be solidly constructed. Also, the mitts run a bit small, so you may want to consider ordering a size larger than you normally would. I can't comment on the included fleece gloves, as I haven't used them. |

Crampons work great, attachment needs improvement.

The Naxo ski crampons enabled me to skin up nearly all the way to the top of the Breithorn in Switzerland. Skiers without crampons needed to leave their skis at a lower elevation. The crampons are lightweight and seem pretty durable. They easily cut into hardpack and give good bite on moderately hard ice. The main drawback is that you need to take your ski off to attach it. Silvretta crampons can be attached while the boot is still in the binding, which is convenient when you are on the steeper slopes. |

Great longjohns!

Not much needs to be said about these Icebreaker longjohns. They are very comfortable, don't stink and keep me a perfect temperature during most activities. I have yet to use an Icebreaker product that hasn't been great. The quality seems on par with my other Icebreaker gear, which has been great. |

Warm mittens!
03-29-07 ![]() |
I bought these for my wife who often suffers from cold hands in the outdoors. She used them in -10F weather in the Alps this year and had no problems keeping her hands warm. The mitts have good attention to detail (the soft snot-wiping fabric on the upper thumb is a plus) and seem reasonably durable. |
