Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow    Read other reviews of this product

NEEDED IT / LIKE IT   11-17-08

I agree that a pillow in the back country is a luxury; but having had a neck injury from a bad fall in my past, I found my self continuously using boots, fuel bottles wrapped in my polar fleece, or anything else I could fanagle to get a good neutral plane for my neck alignment in order to get enough rest and to not wake up with a headache. The thermarest has really helped. Nice and light. Good compression. For me, it is a must in order to stay out longer and feel better doing it.

Asolo TPS 520 GV Backpacking Boot - Men's    This product is no longer available

Best Boots I Have Ever Purchased!!!   04-21-09

Great fit. Great construction. Quality in all details. Quick break-in on easy 6-mile hike on sand, gravel and loose shale. The boot design gives me great support. Sizing was right on for my 9-1/2 medium foot with heavy socks (with wicking liners). The micro-pullies in the lacing are absolutely awesome. These boots look sharp too. Love 'em!

Osprey Packs Argon 85 Backpack - 5100-5500cu in    This product is no longer available

MY OSPREY ARGON 85 IS SUPERB   04-04-09

This pack is a great multi-day, multi-season expedition-sized hauler. It has the quality construction and function that I have come to demand in my life activities. I'm only 5'7". The adjustability has proven to be superb, and is a big deal to me. I can go long hours with this pack on, but I have to be careful - I can overload my body if I'm not paying attention to weight. Bottom line - No complaints about this pack; only praise!

Columbia Omni-Dry Silver Ridge Convertible Pant - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

DRIES IN A FLASH   11-17-08

I wore my Omni-dry Silver Ridge convertible pants on a 3-day backcountry trip in Daisetsusan National Park, on Japan's Hokkaido Island. Two of three days we encountered howling wind and horizontal rain while hiking the ridgeline above the park's active caldera. Even our gore-tex rain pants, boots and parkas soaked through. The wind was so bad we had a very difficult time standing. On top of that we had lightning. We eventually headed for a ranger hut for shelter. I figured it would take forever to dry out. WRONG - my Omni-dry pants dried in a few minutes just from my body heat. They are absolutely comfortable - light-weight, but plenty durable for trail work (maybe not for bushwhacking) and they dry lightning quick, even when soaked. My only complaint is that the sizing was a little large. I could have gotten by with a medium instead of a large.
