I have used these gloves around town, in the backcountry, off-piste and lift skiing, and they have performed above the price I paid. If you are susceptible to freezing digits, these gloves will be your savior (they keep my hands on the borderline of being to warm). This is one of the best ski gloves I have ever owned. What keeps the rating below a 5 is the bulkiness of the glove, but a minor objection.
