Solid softshell
11-17-09 ![]() |
Don't believe the negative comments. This is my second softshell. My first is a Westcomb with 3XDRY fabric and I am comparing the Backcountry with Polartech POWER SHIELD to it. I honestly like this one better. The fit for one thing works better for me. I am 6'4" and weigh about 240lbs. I own both jackets in an XL. The Westcomb is stretchy like this one except the Westcomb is always stretching on account of being a snugger fit. This one is cut slightly larger and allows my shoulders to fit without stretching the jacket. The stretch is still there and is handy for athletic pursuits where movement is necessary. Backcountry put a longer tail on this jacket which is appropriate for me so my back hair doesnt stick out when I bend over. The Polartech POWER SHIELD does a better job breathing, keeping me warm, yet not getting me over heated, and also repels water better. They are both "made in Canada" except the Backcountry cost me half as much as the Westcomb. At the time of my review the only size left is the XL. If you are similar dimensions as myself pick this up and you WILL NOT regret it. |

Summer Time Steeze
06-18-09 ![]() |
Got mine recently with the gray dial and white band for some summer style. I have received TONS of compliments on the style and uniquness of the watch. Wear this watch with confidence because it is big, bold, and will get noticed. I do not know how long these have been on the shelf at Backcountry but the six year battery was still working on the one I got so I was able to wear it from day one. In my opinion the time and date function is all I am looking for in an analog watch and do not feel like and more comlications are necessary. The make and feel is definetely top of the line and is head and shoulders above the typical Fossil watch a year I usually buy. High quality leather band. I think this will last me many summers to come. Very pleased and would buy again. |

Sweeter than your mom!

This is definetely a style over function type hoodie. Very thin, very light, and very soft. Perfect for when the air just starts to turn crisp. Garment tag lists the material not as poplin, but as 97% cotton and 3% spandex. Also, I don't know if this is typical of Nomis hoodies because this is my first but the zipper is a left hand zipper which is opposite of every other jacket/hoodie I own. |

HUGE shirt
06-22-09 ![]() |
First off...I lift weights and stand 6'4" tall weighing 260lbs. Everything I own is an XL and often fits tight. This shirt was definetely an exception. It comes down almost to my knees and the body on it is enormous. If I weighed another 50lbs this might have fit in the body but the length is just ridiculous. Also, I am not thrilled with the quality. Several 5-6 inch loose threads were covered up by the screen print and left lines where they had been when I pulled them off. It cost less than $12 so I am not going to hassle with returning the shirt even though Backcountry has excellent customer service. I probably will look into giving this to a Yetti. |

Thong sandals hurt,
08-08-08 ![]() |
But these feel great! I developed plantar fascitis in my foot and flat stopped wearing thong sandals because they were making the pain worse. I decided to try these because of the footbed on a recent beach vacation and have to report that my feet have never felt better. The arch support is second to none including my previous pair of tevas. I was just going to wear them around the beach but now wear them all the time. I wear a size 15 nike running shoe and the 15 zong fit perfect. Go to the chaco website for a printable sizing chart you can place your foot on if you are not sure what size to get. |
