This is a pretty fancy helmet, it also works well for boarding, skating and biking(park and trail). I would recommend this helmet to folks that don't fall down all that much. If you are just starting out I would say this helmet may not be that confidence boost in safety that you need to get better. It is much liter than other helmets but that's probably because it is a hard hat and not a helmet. My only complaint would be the audio jack came un-stitched the first time I plugged in, but it still works so it's not a big deal.
