This Sierra Designs jacket is as worthy as the tents. I remember backpacking and staying an extra night at a site because rain was so bad. I stayed in the tent the whole day and kept dry and warm. Now I can confidently say I could hike out into that pouring rain with this jacket and be happy. It's extremely water proof, like wearing your tent. The ventilation, inside pockets, and draw-able hood are bonuses. This jacket even comes with a stuff sack! And you can wear it for style too. I strongly suggest this piece of rain gear!

So these rainpants are pretty do-able for a good price. They are pretty hard to get on, and once they're on they're not easy to drop for a quick tree. They do block rain, and have ventilation, add a good pair of gaiters, Sierra Designs jacket, and gortex boots and be set for a rainy hike.
