Dynastar Legend Mythic Rider Alpine Ski    Read other reviews of this product

Great... but not for a one ski quiver   02-15-09

I have the Dynastar 8000 and have skied it in every kind of snow and ice. The Mythic Rider does everything the 8000 does with greater conviction. It is a stiffer ski and skis heavier, hence it demands more of the skier. On trails it skis like a GS ski with great edge hold, but obviously slower edge change and longer arcs. It devours crud, floats pow and handles windslab and crust as well as any ski I've been on. It is NOT a ski for bumps, trees or tight quarters. When I changed midday back to my Legend 8000's, it was like I had nothing on my feet--like skiing blades. The Mythic is a powerful, precise ski in the right hands on the right terrain (read steep and soft and very fast). If you can have only one pair of skis, go for the Legend 8000; it is more forgiving, more adaptable, and easier on the legs.

Tecnica Diablo Race Pro 110 Ski Boot - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

A no frills race boot   01-04-09

The Diablo Pro 110 is a strong lateral boot with excellent fore-aft alignment and great quickness and feel in the sole. I recommend ignoring the cuff canting mechanism and going straight to a good boot fitter. The footbed that comes with the boot is useless--it needs custom footbeds, and the shell will likely need some tweaking (narrow in the ankle, low volume toe box, low instep), and for most of us, cants added to the sole. So allow some $ for a custom fit and you'll have one of the two best race boots on the market. Of the two, the Tecnica is the most adaptable to all mountain skiing for a strong, well-balanced skier who wants to lay down aggressive lines. The boot is also light for its type, and that helps broaden its repertoire.

Special Blend Empire Shell Pant - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Be sure about size and color!!!   06-10-09

I ordered a mens small in topiary green. It arrived as neon green. Now I know from skiing Europe that the Brits are into neon right now, so maybe ship all these over to Britain. I've done neon and don't want to go there again. Also, the mens' small turned out to be a mens'large. I could have worn them as fireman's pants, up to my armpits and still had enough left over for frogmens'flippers. Hu-u-u-ge!

Topiary Green or neon green?   06-10-09

I bot these for skiing, not riding. Big mistake. First off, they are way huge, legs long enough for Kobe. But it's the color. They are five times brighter than in the photo. They are in fact neon (BACK TO THE LATE SEVENTIES). I ski in Europe and the Brits are really into neon for some reason (maybe they think they missed out on it first time b/c the Brits hadn't learned to ski then). The pants ar OK, nothing exceptional, decent buy for the $. But buy down one or two sizes!

Bonfire Rainier Snowboard Pant - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Watch the size!   06-10-09

Great pant, well made, nice herringbone (subtle), color much, much brighter than in photo (whay are all of BC's photos under-exposed?). But the mens' small is really a large 'cept in the waist, the only accurate measurement given. They are way baggy (Bonfire calls it a "classic" fit, but I have Bonfire pants, and they're nothing like these)! The rise is 14 inches, which means the 30 inch inceam becomes more like 32-33. They make my legs look like a tree trunk in Spring!

Spy Comet Goggles - Bronze Lens    Read other reviews of this product

Way small!   06-02-09

I tried these on with a helmet. With the helmet in the normal position, and the goggles up against the rim of the helmet (normal),these googles are so narrow the lower frame cuts across your field of view. They are really a child's goggle and should be sold as such. I returned them. (My second try with Spy--haven't found one that worked yet).

Special Blend Beacon Snowboard Jacket - Men's    Read other reviews of this product

Tan Invader--good but heavy   06-02-09

This is a well-designed, well-made jacket, but it is a bit on the heavy side. The "tan" invader is really more of a cream color, but looks great. The fit is fairly loose, which allows for extra garments under it in very cold weather...so OK. Excellent buy, I'm psyched to git up thar and use it.
