Orage Air Project Scape Jacket - Men's    This product is no longer available

Nice looking, but lacking "real" features and warmth   02-21-04

I bought this jacket primarily to use as an everyday jacket for the winter here in NYC. I'm a snowboarder, but since what I was looking for was a jacket I culd wear every day, I didn't care that this jacket was "made" for freestyle skiers. The jacket is very good looking, and the material is sort of like neoprene in that it has some stretch to it. It is windproof, which was one of my big requirements, and also waterproof from what I have experienced as well. But that's about it with this jacket. What the jacket could really use is a powder belt to keep wind from coming up from the waist. Also there is no insulation beyond the shell material which seems thick enough to provide warmth, but doesn't. The fit is slim, but roomy enough to wear an extra layer underneath. A fleece may be too thick though, especially around the neck. There are taped seams, but the material on the inside is like felt, so I have my doubts on how long the tape will "stick". Also the front zipper snags on pull up. I have a North face jacket that has the front flap sewn over itself to prevent snags and it works so well I wish all jackets had that feature. Conclusion: Great looking (less the shiny zippers), but zero warmth. I definitely will never use it while riding; my Burton AK is leaps and bounds a much better jacket with real and useful features to boot.
