I worked in the outdoor retail industry from '97 till '03. I left right at the begining of the softshell push and didn't get to test much. For a long time after getting out of the business I was stilla hardshell supporter without having an opportunity to test the alternative. I'm am now a convert. I will always have my hardshell for the really rough stuff, but after 10 days boarding the Tyrolian Apls, I have to say that this is the best jacket I have ever owned. I'm 5'10, 190 lbs, with a broad chest and shoulders. I got the XL cause I was a little worried about Arc'teryx slim fit. The only fit problem I had was the arms are just a little on the long side. This Jacket performed like no other, I was warm on the cool days with only a little cold on the lift, and only got hot when I was huffing snowboards up the slopes for people who were trying to learn. Thin base layer was more than enough in powder conditions. I could write more, but lets just say this sucker is bombproof, comfy as hell, and looks great(I bought the Black). BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!

I just got back from 10 days in the Tiyrolian Alps and couldn't have loved these boots more. Without much chance to wear them before hand it took a bit to get them broken in. Once they packed out, I couldn't have been more comfortable. Good and stiff for the big stuff but I could put enough flex into them have fun anywhere. Definitely an all mountain boot geared towards the steeps.
