In walking around the house, I found these boots very comfortable. However, there are only 5 "eyelets" where there would normally be 7 on a boot of this height. The odd lacing system makes it difficult to tighten them enough, especially around the instep (where they are especially loose) without making them too tight at the ankle. You can't really make them very tight even at the ankle with that plastic clamp on the laces. The sole has a slightly rounded cross section and does not provide much lateral stability (i.e., pronation control). I would worry about tackling uneven ground in these boots. My feet are somewhat narrower than average. I returned the Salomons and found that Merrell Chameleon Thermo 8's (in the same size) fit much me better and provide the desired support.
