These pants are ok. They are decently waterproof, but of course not fully. They will keep off most of the rain, but when in the wet for long periods some does get through. They dry fairly quickly, but when exerting oneself vigorously they will get damp inside (as most waterproof/breathable stuff will). I'm a bike messenger in San Francisco and these work pretty well for that purpose. The main advantage is that they're cheap and I can get a new pair when they ultimately get thrashed, which is not the case with the more expensive yet better quality rain gear.
