Great ultralight climbing pack!
10-20-08 ![]() |
This pack is wayy lighter than any other pack in its class and cheaper. Although, it is a tad bit less comfy due to the ultralight constuction. You can cram so much stuff in this pack, it's almost too big; almost. I'm 5.9, 160 - these packs might feel a bit large if your not wearing many layers. I have drug this thing through chimneys, up ice, down snow slopes and still no holes - don't be fooled by the lightweight fabric, it's super tough!! |

Killer!
10-17-08 ![]() |
Light and packs up really small. I have had this jacket on with little else between me and the cold for several 16,000 foot bivy's. The shell fabric is a tad bit on the light side, but I have never had a problem. Big hood that fits over any helmet, 2 way zipper, big chest pocket, and an inside pocket big enough to keep your dehydrated meal in as it rehydrates. A must have if you plan on doing a big alpine route! |

Most folks only have the first four or five, the new super small ones look freaky but beat the hell outa trying to stack RP's in a horizontal feature - which is probably where these little fellas excel! If $ and weight are an issue these are the best! Also, go down to the electric supply store and buy some heat shrink tube, cut it to fit about 2/3rds of the sling and heat it with great care. It makes 1 handed placement a snap and protects the sling very well! |

great fit!

A rad hoodie from a rad company made from organic material! It's pretty warm and soft. The hood fits me perfectly, it does'nt cover up half my face like some other hoodies I've worn, I have a medium sized head I suppose. The length is just bellow my belt line and the thumb loops are nice when I need to throw on a shell really quick-like and not have to fuss with the sleeves bunching. |

Excellent light boot.
10-21-08 ![]() |
Super light, high performance gore-tex boot. They are pretty darn tough but I have had a few pairs start to blow out along the stiching where your foot bends - seam seeler does the trick. I have used these boots for casual hiking and full on expedition climbing in the himalaya. They are stiff enough to strap crampons to for glacier travel and easier snow/ice pitches and soft enough to climb better than any boot in their class - for sure! The gtx sock inside stays dry as long as you are not getting into deap snow - wear gaiters in the heavy rain/snow and you will stay dry. I had a buddy who complained about them rubbing his achilles tendon...maybe a bit on the narrow side. I say super good value! |

must have!

I have taken this on every expedition I have been on for many years and it has never jacked a single battery, only smooth, fast charges. Kinda on the costly side of the gear list, but if you plan on needing to charge anything (Ipod Nano in a 1/2 hr) in the backcountry cloudy or not, this is your rig!! |

Wicked cord!
10-18-08 ![]() |
Super light and darn tough! I have used this cord on 2 seperate trips in the Himalaya. Every time I got back to camp after climbing a big snowy/rocky alpine route and was going over the ropes to look for damage I have always found myself shaken my head thinking "how did this thing not get worked?", bottom line is it's the toughest 9.2 on the planet! Although, the Nano is probly not the best rope for "working" your proj, but you can count on it for the send!! |

One of MBs favorite bikes of all time, what else needs to be said! Great all mountain XC bike, that handles the DH pretty well also, around 28 lbs, sweet, fast and a great climber. One of my favorite parts of the bike is the simple single pivot design you'll save loads on the cost of maintenance since there is only one pivot. I'm 5.9, 160 and the medium gives me plenty of stand over room and soaks up pounding bumps like a dirt bike chassis. This bike sets into corners much like a motorcycle also, super fun!! You will not need to change any components from this simple-to-set-up build kit, get one! |

Pricey..
12-22-08 ![]() |
Thin soles and mostly a smoke-and-mirrors design. Overall good fit, they tend to run big. Heel cup is nice, but the yellow rubber around the foot is a bit much and makes them heavier than they should be. Good down turned toe design, but it wears out pretty quick and after a re-sole it loses it's point. The rubber on the top of the toe felt like plastic. One of the most expensive shoes on the market - I.M.H.O. not worth the price, but overall a good shoe none-the-less. |

Super comfy in the boat and on the trail - I had to chase down my freinds kayak the other day, I ran for about 1.5 miles along the rocky shore never slipping on the rocks or twisting my ankle! END is going to change the way shoes are made..I hope! You will be Wowed by the WOW Water Shoe! |

Believe it - they are the best!
03-25-09 ![]() |
Metolius has answered the call for a USA made version of HB's standard setting offset nut! They stick to the rock so well, I feel like I could just throw them at the crack and be safe. Their shape is perfect for tiny irregularities in small fractures and these little widgets are super light! The offset silicon bronze material with rounded corners make a huge difference and in my opinion, set them apart from other small nuts, like BD's steel with square corners. Metolius gear is quickly becoming the workhorse of my climbing rack. Great value! |

Great for the price!
03-25-09 ![]() |
As a few other reviewers have stated - the trigger is the biggest problem with these cams. If you load the unit in a horizontal position the trigger cables get super worked, hopefully this will be fixed soon! But, I have hammered on them for a while now and they still have great action. The narrow 4 cam head is great and fits snug in tight spots, I think a little better then a BD C3 of a comparable size, plus they cost way less than the BD units! Super light, you will notice a difference from other units, trust me. I found the #4,#5 & #6 to be kinda floppy and don't use them much. The smaller units have replaced my Aliens and my C3's! Overall great value, get some! |

Best value!!
12-22-08 ![]() |
Can't beat the price! The shoes overall durability is substandard, but they climb very well - super sticky rubber. These shoes are built to climb well on anything, though they hardly excel at one specific climbing style; maybe steep face climbing if anything. The Defy's also hold their shape well even after several resoles. If your looking for a low cost, no waste minamalist design and a super good value, this is your shoe! |

Burly rope. Though the description states it's better for free climbing than wall climbing, I gotta say it has lasted through some pretty long wall rts in Canada - wet, loose, sharp crystals everywhere - I still use the same cord for working hard free climbs! |

Single best wind shirt ever!
10-19-08 ![]() |
Great piece if you need protection from the wind without ANY bulk! Really tough, packs small and sheds light rain/snow pretty well. This shell is designed to be tight so if you plan on having it as a layering piece over a medium weight (like a MHW power stretch zip t) get a larger sz than normal. Great value!! I must say though, the hooded version might be better if you plan on using it for alpine climbing. |

I got this pump because I could'nt afford the price tag of the big Barrel pumps. I have used this pump now for about 4 years, it fills my 10' NRS raft up completely, @ 2.5 psi, in about 8 minutes. The double action is great, and its small form (19" x 9" and pumps at least 3.0 psi), fits well in the raft for long trips!! Get one! |

Fair price..ok for filling a small boat.
04-06-09 ![]() |
This pump is going to work fine if your filling a small volume boat and don't plan on using it much, they tend to wear out quick. The foot-pump action is an ok idea but really takes more time than your typical handle-pump style. I would say pay an extra 8 bucks and get the Air Double Action Hand Pump! |

Pretty light, not so warm.
03-26-09 ![]() |
I had the misfortune of leaving my jacket at home and borrowed one of these from a buddy for a multi-pitch climbing day in NC. We got hammerd by wind and a little rain - I was cold and wet to say the least! The fabric ripped super quick and the hood fit poorly over my helmet, causing the bottom of the jacket to rise, exposing my cold skin. I'm not a big fella, 5.9, 160, but the shoulders were pretty tight, I felt like I was going to tear the back of the jacket, Hulk style! The ability to cram its self into the inside pocket was nice, even though the zipper got stuck and tore some (more) of the fabric. It worked, I guess, but I learned my lesson. Probly a good jacket if you need something to put in your golf bag, not for mountains the though, in my opinion. |

Best overall value - no doubt!
03-25-09 ![]() |
The best, cheapest pad around! These pads last, carry well and are light weight, so you don't get worked luggin it around. It packs up fast and the dual density foam absorbs impact time and time again! Don't be fooled by other manufacturers with "cheaper" hinged pads - the foam is not good (to stiff!) and the angled hing on the Metolius pads is far better than the standard hing design, that you will most likley poke your foot through (the gutter) onto the ground. |

Great specialty cams!!
03-24-09 ![]() |
These little buggers are a must for flared horizontal placments - like eyebrow pitches at looking glass in north carolina - for vertical pin scars they fit pretty well, but tend to not sit well if the cable can't fit into the crack, but if it's steep they are bomber. Basically if you are looking to start building rour rack get a set of regular tcu's first, but if you need some gear to fill the need for special offset placements look no further! Plus these cams are so freakin light it will blow your mind, but not you wallet. |

great boot for aid..
12-03-08 ![]() |
So comfy in aiders! If you sz them tight (I wear a 10 (mens) street shoe and found the sz10 to fit perfectly snug w/ socks) they work really well for hard fat cracks. I would not take these shoes into the mountains, your feet would freeze if they got wet, but I suppose they would climb better than Five Tens Guide Tennie. Probly the best shoe out for doing speed ascents in the Valley and such! |

For the price this thing rules! I live in NC and we have a small resort here that is pretty much being overun with these things. I do not own this board (I have a Burton Junkyard snowdeck) but I have used it alot! Rides just like the high dollar decks!! Floats on pow, tricks in the park are simple and it carves well on ice - which is what we mostly get here in NC. Great value. |

I have shleped 80+ pounds in this rig several times now and it always feals well balanced! It's not gonna be the best backpacking pack - but that's not what it is for. Super light, holds way more stuff than your gonna want to carry up a route and is hardly noticable when you're climbing with it. All the little gadgets ( aluminium front buckle, quick tool carrier loops, fast strap stash pocket) seem to be work well - overall this pack is great tool for success in the mountains, at a great price! |

not very durable
03-24-09 ![]() |
Great rock climbing helmet, super light and fits tight. It's ok for ice in my opinion, as soon as you put a hat on under it the helmet starts to ride high on my head. I wont take another one of these on a big trip either, just the plane ride crushed one and on another trip the constant punishment from being tossed around in the backpack trashed it. Overall though, it is my helmet of choice for any non-alpine venus, but if you need a helmet to last for years keep looking. |

I have had 1 pair of these for several years now and pretty much wear them exclusively! They have been to India twice and been up thousands of vertical feet. Not too baggy but have a great relaxed fit, the material is pretty thick so don't expect them to be super lightweight. I find the sizing to be pretty much dead on, although the medium/regular size maybe a tad on the long side for me (I'm 5.9, 31" inseam - 33" waist). These britches will last and fit well! |
