Great Trail Shoe
09-26-08 ![]() |
This shoe does have a narrow heel, but that has worked great for me! It holds my heel sufficiently such that I don't have to use the extra hole at the top which I usually have to use and find very uncomfortable. It wasn't so narrow that I couldn't fit my Custom Orthotic in it. Regarding size, I tried my regular size and a half size larger. I decided on the larger, but believe the regular one would have worked OK. It has a supportive stiff sole the bends appropriately where it should but not where it shouldn't. This quality enables it to work well for me as a Biking shoe as well as a Trail shoe, but I don't do the mileage of many avid Cyclists. I've been wearing the Hardrock model for two years and have loved how supportive, yet lightweight it is. On the other hand, I find the lacing system of the Hardrock extremely annoying and the medial posting tilts my foot too much laterally. The Java is only slightly heavier, and seems to be even more supportive with a less annoying lacing system. It doesn't tilt the foot so laterally, yet it works well for me as a pronator even when I don't use my Custom Orthotic. |
