A year ago, I bought the 2001 model of the Salomon Raid Race and loved it! I especially liked the lacing system that doesn't have a tongue to get off center. Having read that running shoes are great for walking and hiking, which is what I do, because they have better support than walking shoes, I decided to try the Raid Race. I loved them. So, when those wore out after miles of walking and hiking, I bought another pair, the 2002 model. Those just went to the bottom of the Grand Canyon with me, hiked 20 more miles at the bottom, then hiked up. When these wear out, I have no doubt about what the next pair will be. (Did I mention that I'm nearly 55?)
