I have the Paha Que Tepee and shower (see my reviews) and thought I ought to get the capture floor for when I camp in national parks. Here is what is wrong with it. SIZE - is not compact at all. Folded up it is a full 54 inches long. QUALITY - very el cheapo vinyl. DESIGN - it's a great idea. Shower into the capture floor, drain it and voila. The problem is, no handles. Try to pick up a floppy 54 x 54 inch container of water and hold it (by yourself) so that the water drains to one corner! Gads. Looks like a team sport to me. I sent it back. Here's what works GREAT - a large, under bed storage bin from Wal-Mart. It has handles so you can pick it up, it is useful for storage when not in use as a shower floor and you will never get a hole in it. Get one large enough to fit a no-slip shower mat. Voila. Skip the "capture floor" |

When I took this out of the box my first reaction was "HOW CHEESY." For the money I paid, I was expecting more than a blue bucket with a little pump glued inside. Here are the pros and cons. PRO: It's a nice, powerful pump and decent shower head so you will use less water to get wet and rinse off. This is its best feature, maybe worth the price, maybe not. You can charge the battery either in your car or in a wall socket, and the charge is good for 4-5 full showers. CONS: The bucket setup is glued in place, i.e. you can't use the bucket for anything else, nor can you remove the pump and use it in another manner, so if you travel light, this will be a bulky item indeed. The fill hole is SMALL! You can't dip this in the river to fill it. In fact, I called the company and asked if I could submerge the unit, and they said, "no." So you need a hose, or you need to be very patient at filling it from another bucket or collapsible water carrier. The "solar" bit is kind of misleading. It is JUST a blue plastic bucket. Okay, it will get warmish on a warm day, and warmer on a hot day, but why not a black bucket? I'd say the best bet is to fill it halfway with cold water and then pour in boiling water until you get the right temp. The battery is connected by wires...yikes... all exposed. Company says they are "water resistant". I would NOT let kids use this unsupervised. That said, I kept mine and will try to get the best use out of it. I may cut the fill hole bigger and use w/o the plug (can be done) and make sure the battery doesn't fall in there while I'm showering! |

This is one cool and useful tent! It is easy to put up (and I am tent-challenged!) and VERY roomy on the inside. You can use if for showering, changing clothes, porta-pottie, or even a place to store water toys where they won't blow away! We love it. There are two ways to use it - with the nylon, seal-in floor, or on the bare ground. It has noseeum netting around the bottom to keep the buggies out either way. There is a net hammock for your solar shower bag - it only holds a 2.5 gallon bag so be warned. If you want to use a bigger bag you'll need to hang it from a tree and use one of the USEFUL roof line zippers to let in the hose. This tepee tent is well-designed, easy to use, and seems to be made of high quality materials that will last a long time. I'm 100 percent satisfied. If you're thinking about the drain capture floor to go with it, read my review first and save yourself some money. |
