I bought these just before a tropical vacation, hoping that they would work as dual purpose sandals/sneakers. I chose this model over the similar "Venice" because the Newport offers more support. The trade-off is that they are less open and airy than the Venice. I ended up being happy with my choice -- these shoes truly do give a sneaker-like support and comfort. No blisters, no break-in. Rinse off under a garden hose when necessary and they look as good as new. I walked a LOT during my vacation, with no foot problems at all. Also got several compliments on these somewhat goofy looking shoes. I actually thought they looked pretty good with a beach dress!
