I went skiing for a week out in Tahoe during the coldest snap they've had in years. It was below 0/single digits and windy. I wore a tank top, long underwear top, turtleneck and this jacket with my cute white spyder spirit pants and I was looking great and feeling plenty warm. It is a pretty fitted jacket which would have made it hard to fit another layer if I'd needed it. Fortunately, I didn't. I recommend this jacket.
