This tent is more than a 3 season!

To those of you considering this tent, I say it is a great buy. I’ve had mine since ’99 and have used it all 4 seasons. I’ve used it about 80 days, for everything from overnight to 9 day backcountry trips. I have yet to seam-seal it or reapply the waterproof coating, and it’s endured up to 3 days in a row of rain without leaking one drop. A great tent to be stuck in when it’s raining as you can open up the tent doors and even vent the fly by opening it a smidge. You get nice fresh air and a bit more space. I highly recommend it as a winter tent because the mesh allows the vapor to collect and freeze on the fly overnight instead of staying in the tent and getting everything moist. Just flip over the fly in the morning, shake off the crystals, and you’re good to go! I’ve product tested some 4 season tents touted as the best, but found that even with all their vents open, I still had to crack both doors open to be dry overnight. I would not recommend it in extreme Everest-like winter conditions, but it’s worked great for me in the Rockies above 10,000’ for a week of winter camping. |
