Absolutely ROCKS!

Fantastic design! Performs like a champ at moderate altitude (9-10,000 ft) & cold conditions (20-30deg F) & strong winds (20-30mph). Very neat and clean design which is hassle free and frustration free to operate and packup- even with your gloves on. Yeah, it has no simmer, but for backpacking food- who cares? We keep around a Whisperlite and skillet for car camping when our cooking gets more ambitious. |

Very comfortable, adjustable

My first backpack (so no direct comparisons), but I was very impressed with the comfort and 65-million-way adjustability of this pack. My husband was using an old external frame and I was definitely more comfortable in my pack after 2 days. Good back support. Hip belts rubbed some, but learning to adjust the pack for my load and hike fixed this. Sleeping bag compartment was too small for my bag (a L Marmot stuff sack), but fit my husband's M bag quite nicely. 5 lbs in my daypack felt heavier than 30 in this pack!! :) |

Easy to use

Quite easy to operate. Little confused / paranoid about the best way to repack it on the trail to avoid cross-contamination. (I'm a microbiologist & and so always thinking about this.) |

Warm & high quality

Nice and toasty in near-freezing temps. Gets pretty warm above that. Very happy with the shape, draft tube and collar. I have the long and I'm a little disappointed I can't get it into a Medium stuff sack. Would also like to zip-together with hubby's Sawtooth, but the zipper gauge is different! No warning of this in Marmot's descriptions (different year or rating?). |

Ouch

Lightweight and very quick to pack up, but not worth the night's sleep that comes with it. My husband and I both tried new Z-lites one night in Shenandoah (around 30deg) and were warm enough, but miserably uncomfortable. Our 15yr old Trail Thermarests were a welcome sight. Probably a better choice for soft ground or an additional barrier under another pad. |
