I like the many pockets that this pack features, my favorite being the (functional) removable summit pack. The summit pack is a backpack that is quite small, but big enough for a shell, some gorp and an ice axe loop/strap on the outside. It is easy on/off with a heavy duty zipper to the front of pack. Another + is how heavy duty everything is. I'm not a weight snob, and I want my stuff to survive the beating I dish out. I would not hesitate to strap skis to the sides. I haven't hiked with my new pack yet, but so far I love it (packed it to the brim and maneuvered around the kitchen to make and eat lunch). Its also comfortable.
