The Naughty Rocks

I bought this watch in white on red for my girlfriend who's got tiny wrists -- other cuff watches looked like blown tires wrapped around her arm but The Naughty looks absolutely great. The tapered band is nice and feminine while the thick leather and big metal studs add that touch of rocker sass to a sexy, attention-grabbing watch. Highly recommended, especially in red! |

Looks good, but gets wet
03-29-07 ![]() |
Pros: Looks great, keeps your hands warm while the waterproofing lasts. Cons: Does not stay waterproof for long, shrinks slightly, leather wears out quickly, snow gets in gauntlet if you don't pull your cuff over it. These gloves look and feel great, however they are not rugged enough for snowboarding. The leather wears quickly, especially in the palm and fingertips, and once that happens forget about using them in wet conditions -- you'll be wringing them out after every run. I noticed that after getting wet and heater drying a couple times the length of the gloves shrunk by roughly a centimeter (about 1/3 inch). Also, the glove opening is quite wide and there is no cinch or elastic around the cuff so unless you're going to wear them under your sleeve, you're gonna get snow in them when you fall. Being a noob boarder from Vancouver I fall quite a bit and I board in wet snow quite often -- exactly the type of use and conditions these gloves were NOT meant for. But if you're lucky enough that you normally ski/board in nice dry pow, then these gloves are not a bad choice. |

Good at first, but don't expect it to last long
07-17-07 ![]() |
I'm a beginner-intermediate rider and bought these last season as my first pair of boots (I was borrowing a junky pair of Airwalks before). I was attracted by the low price and seemingly good reviews. The first thing I noticed was that the build quality isn't great. The gluing was messy and the cloth/textile material seemed a little cheap. The fit and lining however, are very comfortable with no hotspots. The quicklace system isn't nearly as easy to use as a BoA, although you won't have to re-tighten as often. And despite what Salomon says, it will take you about as long as regular laces to do them up -- although it's pretty easy to get the right tightness. After a couple sessions the boot had broken in. It rode strong, was very responsive with pretty good boardfeel. Landings were a bit jarring though -- I wish the insole was more cushioned. After 10 or 12 sessions however, the boot started to lose it's rigidity, causing it to become too "flexy". And not in such a way that it seemed intentional -- but more like a result of wear and tear. Being a beginner, I prefer a more rigid boot. Maybe if you're a free-styler or a more advanced rider the flexiness of the boot isn't a bad thing. But personally, I found the Dialogues to be great for the first half of the season, then gradually become mediocre through heavy use. I'll be getting new boots next season. |

Description Incorrect

THIS JACKET IS NOT INSULATED. That's right, there is no "Polyfil insulation" in the body or sleeves like it says in the Features section. This is just a shell. Having said that, everything else is as advertised. I'm 5'6" 155lbs and the small fits perfectly if you like that baggy park look without looking like you're wearing your older bro's hand-me-downs (you can find pics with actual humans modeling this jacket elsewhere on teh internets). It's fairly waterproof but it does get damp after a full day of heavy snowing. Forget about wearing it in the rain. The one major thing lacking is wrist gaiters, although you can get a pretty tight fit with the elastic/velcro cuffs. Overall, a stylish shell for all but the gnarliest conditions for the discerning snowboarder. |

Love 'em

I have both the Sessions Zoom and Parachutes and I gotta say the Parachutes are my fave. The fit is loose but not too baggy like the Zooms, and cut just right so they hang perfectly when you're strapped in. I love the sherpa fleece lining in the seat which not only keeps your butt warm, but also softens the impact when you bunt a trick on those icy days. Overall, the perfect pair of snowboard pants. |

Pricey, but worth it

I've worn my Orbits 5 times so far and I can't think of a single bad thing to say about them. Then again I shouldn't, since they are one of Spy's top-end models. They stay fog-free, even after boarding all day with snow in them (I'm a noob so that tends to be all the time). My lens is chrome persimmon, and are great in bright light, not so great in low light. The orbit lens does give you a slight fishbowl effect though, but it's hardly noticeable. I have a medium-large face and they fit slightly narrow, and if you don't have a nose bridge then there will be a gap. I wear them with my Skycap II which holds them in place perfectly, but without it they'll slide up on my face. So if you have a flat face/nose then wear them with a helmet. Other than that, they look awesome -- definitely the best looking goggles made by Spy. Although they're pricey, they perform and look like it. And at this site's prices how can you go wrong? |

Top Gun style

If Iceman snowboarded (for some reason he seems like a skier to me) he'd wear the Orbits. They're probably the techiest, most futuristic-looking goggles I've seen and have gotten a few compliments on them but there's only one thing: the hinge consists of a tiny plastic pin stuck in a hole on the frame. I went off a jump and kinda landed on my face and the pin snapped. This site replaced them for free plus shipping so it was no big deal, but just a head's up. |
