Raising the bar for all down jackets!
01-07-07 ![]() |
Just got my Down Patrol in time for the first big storm of the 06/07 winter, and I am loving it! Unlike many other down jackets out there, Cloudveil's Down Patrol blurs the line between form and function. With easy to reach pit-zips, a removable hood and powderskirt, an internal media pocket, and Gore-Tex Windstopper protecting your frontside from cold gusts, this jacket has all the necessary bells & whistles to keep you stoked this winter! Best part is, the Down Patrol looks good too- it is water resistant and warm, but not bulky (read: you won't look or feel like the Michelin Man). I find myself ignoring my other winter jackets now that I have my new Cloudveil- the simple fact is, I just have no use for them! Thank you guys and Cloudveil, this is no doubt my best purchase yet. Size Large fits great, I'm 6'1", 190 lbs. Enjoy! |

These socks are Awesome!
01-07-07 ![]() |
Don't let the name fool you- Ultra Light does not equate to cold feet!!! As someone who has had trouble with cold feet while skiing, I can recommend these socks with confidence! These socks actually have caused my ski boots to feel and fit better than they ever had- I think this may be because there is no extra/unnecessary material to bunch up and irritate my foot. Even though these socks are not thick, they are warm- no problems skiing Jackson Hole in -10 F weather. The kicker is, after wearing these socks for 20 ski-days without washing them, they still didn't smell... try wearing capilene socks for 5 days without washing them, and you'll probably need to put a clothespin on your nose- oh, the magic of wool! Less laundry=more time outside on the slopes, so if that sounds good to you too, get some Smartwool Skiing socks and reap the many rewards of your sub-$20 purchase. |

Awesome do-it-all Mountain Bike Glove
06-11-08 ![]() |
This is my second pair of Digit gloves from Fox Racing - the first pair made it through almost 3 seasons, so it was time to re-up. I am stoked I stuck with the Digits because they have excellent grip, breathe very well (even in the heat of Utah summers), are super comfortable and very durable. I use these for everything from XC rides to downhill shuttle runs and wouldn't want anything else covering my hands. The size chart is accurate - I measured my hands, checked the chart and the gloves fit just right. |

A Great Tent with 2 Doors!
07-23-08 ![]() |
Since purchasing The North Face Moraine tent, I have been really psyched - the tent is easy to set up and take down, durable, well-vented and affordable. My favorite feature is the doors on either side of the tent - forget about climbing on/over the others when you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you can get out from either side! Works great with the TNF Moraine footprint also. |

Great Pearl Izumi Runners
07-15-08 ![]() |
I'm very happy with the Pearl Izumi SyncroFloat 2 Running Shoe - they are lightweight, supportive and fit my med/wide foot very well. I have worn these running on pavement with no issues at all - my father uses them for absolutely everything... mowing the lawn, watching the Red Sox, playing golf - he just got his third pair and is still psyched on them. A great all around shoe, these fit true to size for me. Would definitely buy them again, especially at this price. |

Comfortable, Light and Protective
07-15-08 ![]() |
The Six Six One Evo d3o Elbow Pad are comfortable, light and protective for mountain bikers of all sorts. I use (or at least bring) mine on almost every ride, cross-country, freeride, or straight downhill - they aren't too bulky to fit in the Camelbak, so why not at least bring them, right? The Six Six One Evo would also be a great elbow pad for dirt jumping or an urban assault. Overall, the Evo d3o Elbow Pad is my #1 - I don't even notice them while I am riding, and when you take a fall, they give you all the protection need - seriously, with the new d3o padding, I feel as protected as when I used to wear my old, bulky hard-shell elbow pads. Highly recommended - in fact, I think it might be time to order some of the Evo d3o knee pads! |

Top-Notch MTB Shorts
06-11-08 ![]() |
The Fox Racing High Frequency Bike Shorts are the highest quality shorts I've owned. Yes, there are cheaper shorts out there; however, I found that by spending a few more dollars, I got a much better (trim) fit from the High Frequency bike shorts than other shorts I've had in the past. The fit is key for me when I'm considering bike shorts with built-in chamois liner... when the cut is right (as it is in the H.F.) the chamois is very comfortable and protective on long rides. They are cut longer to keep them from riding up, but I wouldn't call them baggy, especially compared to Fox Racing's Mid-Ranger shorts. I have worn them on all types of mtb rides and am still pumped that I made the choice to spend a couple extra dollars. |

My new Favorite Bike Shorts
06-11-08 ![]() |
I'll admit, I got these shorts because I have never been let down by Fox Racing, the price was right and I liked the Ash color. When the shorts came, I was very impressed, as they were better than I even hoped they would be. The material is nice and light without feeling or being fragile - no problem in 90F... and when I took my first big digger, they showed no signs of damage at all. The fit is true to size around the waist, and the cut is generous; there's plenty of room for movement freeriding, yet they won't get in your way while banging out a long xc ride. Plenty of pockets for iPod, Wallet, Etc. Comfortable enough to wear around long after the ride has finished. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a do-it-all bike short. |

Super Shades

Excellent glasses all-around! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for polarized glasses that can be worn for virtually everything with no problem. The polarized lenses' optical quality is top-notch - great for days on the water, driving or riding your bike. The Super Methods are lightweight and quite durable - I haven't had issues with them slipping off - add some Croakies and you'll never have to worry. The fit is what I would describe as med to med-wide and the coverage is generous. |

| Patagonia El Cap Pants - Men's Read other reviews of this product |
My new favorite pants!
01-07-07 ![]() |
That's right, my new El Cap pants are now my go-to pants for almost any situation. With a slightly athletic fit, useful pockets, zippered fly, and elastic waist, these pants are rarely left in a pile in the corner of my room. Make no mistake fellas, these pants are not tights! Without elastic cuffs around the ankles, these pants can be worn around town doing errands, taking the dog for a walk, or just hanging out at home- roll up the cuffs once, pull your ski/snowboard pants over them, and you will be comfortable and warm out on the slopes when the temperature drops! The Large size fits me quite well- I wear size 34/32 in regular slacks. I was curious about how these would fit before I ordered them- I didn't want fleece pants that fit like tights. As soon as I put them on, I knew I had made the right choice- I highly recommend these pants for anyone looking for a new pair of extremely versatile, casual pants! It's a no-brainer if you ask me! |

PHENOM-inal Goggles!
01-07-07 ![]() |
For someone like myself who has purchased both the Smith Prodigy and Smith Regulator goggles in the past- only to discover that the Prodigy was slightly too large and the Regulater a bit too small- the Phenom is now my #1 goggle choice. The Phenom's medium fit works perfectly for my face, and I would expect it to work extremely well for almost everyone out there. The spherical lens is completely distortion-free, and the Gold Mirror lens brings unrivaled clarity and confidence in all low and flat light conditions. If you like to see what you are skiing, when you are skiing- and don't we all?- this is a no-brainer. Get the Smith Phenom goggles, you won't regret it! |

The Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad is the most comfortable sleeping pad I have ever used! It might take a couple extra breaths to inflate; however, it is well worth the effort. Blow it up, toss it down and snooze - this sleeping pad is amazing. It's comfortable, insulating and reasonably compact-able (I have the long/wide). If you are someone who never really gets a comfortable sleep on a sleeping pad, check out Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Sleeping Pad - it is going to make you very happy. |

Psyched on this tent
07-23-08 ![]() |
The North Face Moraine 23 Bx Tent is the first tent I've ever owned and I have been psyched ever since it arrived at my house. The Moraine 3-person is a nice, durable tent that is easy to setup and break down. With doors on either side, you don't have to climb over or around the others in the tent when trying to get in or out. Overall, a great tent - I highly recommend it. *If you are going to buy this tent, consider getting the matching footprint - I did, and it works perfectly (as I expected). |

The Patagonia Custodian Short is my new favorite Patagonia short - they are a good fit, durable, soft and have a nice casual cut. I have worn mine basically everyday since I got them - from Telluride to Jackson and back to work, these are my new go-to shorts. In fact, I am ordering a different color now, so I really can wear them everyday (without getting the "haven't you worn those for like 20 days in a row"). I ordered a 34 and 36 when I first got them - the 34 fits perfectly. I am 6'2" 190 lbs with a general 34ish waist. |

Great Socks for Fall, Winter & Spring
06-27-08 ![]() |
The Patagonia Midweight Hiking Crew Socks are and have been my favorite socks for some time now. They are excellent for hiking, but also do a great job as an everyday sock. Take note - they are midweight, so they might feel a bit warm if you wear them on a hot summer day. The size chart is right on - go with that. They are quite durable, as I've had mine for 11 months and they show little if any signs of wear. Highly recommended! |

The SkullCandy Ti Stereo Headphones are very solid over-ear headphones that don't make you look like a total beater while wearing them in the office or on the bus. These headphones aren't just about looks though - the Ti Stereo headphones can handle any sort of music you pump through them at any volume with relative ease. I wear these in the office and they're great - they also are great noise-reducers when you wear them without music playing. I haven't found a pair of headphones that give more bang for the buck than the Ti Stereo headphones. |

I got the Large version for my Toyota Tundra and it fits perfect - my roommate got the smaller size for his Tacoma and it is perfect. Forget about rigging up your techy bike rack - you'll be much happier once you're rocking the Dakine Pick-Up Pad. |

I was super-stoked when I got these gloves - they were just what I wanted! Simple, lightweight, durable and comfortable. These are my go-to dirtjump gloves, because they give me great grip and fit snugly. While I use my Fox Racing Digits for most long or gnarly rides, I always have my Attacks in my Camelbak for backup. For buzzing a quick singletrack loop or sessioning the park with friends, the Fox Racing Attack gloves are perfect. The elastic wristband has been great and has yet to stretch-out too much - no worries there. The size chart is right on point, so just measure accurately and you'll be all set. |
